It’s a month later and I’ve handed in the first draft of both my book reports. I’m at lunch sitting at a table alone in the cafeteria racking my brain about where the other six knights could possibly be and who they would turn out to be. After Xavier had established who I was the next day at school he introduced me to some guys who were part the other packs. The one out of all of them; who I could never stand to be in the same room with turned out to be one of the knights. His name was Dylan Mitz, he was disruptive, a jock and thought he was the shit because he was the captain of the Cricket team. He flirted with every girl in class and they would actually go out with him but me, I just always thought he was trying to over compensate for something or another. By his name you can probably tell he belonged to the Mitz pack and he was the alpha, Alan Mitz’s son. When he realized who I was, however, he gradually began to stop being such a douchebag and behave in classes. He even started hanging out with me and my friends which was totally weird at first. But the funniest is when he started to try flirting with Jade. She was so not having it even though he was totally her type. He’s not fat but he’s a tall, heavyset guy, with dark brown hair and light brown eyes.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned my head to see Xavier and Dylan who take a seat on the bench next to me.
“Oh… it’s you guys.” I say slowly drifting out of my thoughts.
Xavier cocked his head, “Oh you don’t want us hanging around you?”
“No it’s not like that… I just have a lot on my mind.” I shrug.
“If it’s about the war, you have nothing to worry about where Mitz is concerned.” Dylan was trying to ease my mind. It was so weird having him talk to me and getting along. I just smiled at him.
“Where’s Jade by the way?” he asks after a few second.
I laugh, “She’s still in class. Do you really think she wants to go out with you Dylan?”
“It may take some time, but I have no doubt that she will. Just a bit more and she’ll cave.” He said smugly propping his chin on his hand on the table.
I shook my head. Jade was coming towards the bench where we were; she threw her bag on the table and sat in front of us pouting.
“What’s wrong J?”
“Why do you insist on calling me J, Dylan? It’s Jade, and that dumbass Mrs. Reid thinks I need to change the topic of my short story because she thinks the extinction of the male race is not a valid idea.” She rolled her eyes and pouted looking at me.
Xavier and I burst out laughing at her.
“What?” she asks furrowing her brows, “You think this is funny?”
“Jade you weren’t really serious with that were you?”
“Yes I was, some sort of atomic bomb really be created to target men and blow all of them up and leaving only us.”
She had a serious look on her face and I had to hold back my laughter.
“This is why you should go out with me Jade. I would be able to show that all of us are the same.”
I look back and forth between the two of them.
“Oh please Dylan, I’m not going anywhere with you.” She sighed and rested her head on the table sulking.
I rubbed her shoulder. “I have an idea, why don’t you just write on the atomic bomb portion of your story… like the damage it would cause to somewhere as small as Barbados.”
“I guess.” She pouted, “I’ll just write on that.”
Shane and Christina came of their English class and sat with us. We ate our lunch and talked about Jade’s weird obsession with destroying the male race.
“I really thought she was kidding the whole time.” Christina was saying.
“It’s time you put the whole drama with Marques behind you Jade.” I reasoned.
“I know and I have…”
“Not if you’re thinking about destroying the whole male race. Marques is just one of the douches who’s making it bad for the rest of us.” Xavier added.
“Yeah, he totally screwed you over girl, but now it’s time to let go. Don’t let this hatred of him blind you to seeing what great guys are out there. Look at Ceej and Brian for example.” Shane was getting all psychologistic. “What if she held onto that mentally after what happened with Max?”
“You’re right,” Jade sighed, “I’ll stop with all of this.”
“Good.” Christina said, “I was about to start looking for the number to the psychiatric hospital for you.”
We laughed.
“No need.” Jade smiled, “I promise it’s done now.”
“Does this mean you’ll go out with me Saturday?” Dylan asked with a cheeky smile on his face.
“No!” we all shouted at him.
Xavier laughed and rubbed his shoulder, “Give it time, dude.”
