Do you know that the oldest are more afraid?
It's true
We fear a lot more things than the younger of you

I know that I'm afraid
Afraid to fail
Afraid to fall
Afraid to fight, and lose

We are a banner, a symbol, a statue, a measure
We are what you measure yourselves against
I know this

We are your heroes, your pioneers
We make sure that impossible things can be done
So that you can do it too

Did you ever think that maybe we hate all of this responsibility?
These things that it is our duty to do
These tasks

But it is the way it is
And to rebel against the way of life and fate itself is asking to be destroyed by it
A gamble

I'd rather carry in safety the burdens you've given me
Than die by the freedom I'd give myself
But which is worth more, I wonder?
