Faster!
The word echoes through his head. Multiple voices yelling at him.
His heart is beating.
His feet hurt as they are sliced open by the forest floor.
Where is he? Where is he going?
Ethan keeps running, following what appears to be a black line. The black line explodes into five bright lights from his chest, each a differnt color. They go in all different directions. Ethan comes to a full stop, looking at each light string.
The dark blue one pulls, then the red one, then the purple, then green and then yellow. They look connected to his heart.
Which way? Why is there so many?
Faster!
Voices yell in his head again.
Where? He feels himself yell back.
He spins, trying to decide as they yank him around.
Come closer!
Ethan takes off running again. He trips, hitting the forest floor.
Why is he in the forest?
The lights shine brighter.
We're coming!
Ethan looks around, spoting five figures at the end of each light running towards him.
Panic raises in him.
Who are you? He tries to yell.
No answer.
They get closer and suddenly he was engulf in darkness.
A blaring noise sounds through the small apartment and Ethan sits up with a start. A small cry escaping him. He looks around and see no lights, no figures. Ethan runs a hand through his orange red hair. Sweat coats his body. He places a hand over his heart, trying to get the panic to wear off.
He stands, heading to his bathroom to change and clean himself. He is tired, beyond tired. The dream seems to zap any energy he has left. After putting on his uniform, which was a button up shirt, slacks, and a cute black vest, he headed out of the apartment. He greets his landlord, Jack, with a tired hello.
Jack smiles, watching the kid make his way down the street.
Ethan enters his work and his friend, Kevin, stood at the door waiting on him.
"The door is open." Ethan comments.
"I only want you to serve me."
"Everyone knows you wait on me." Everyone knew a lot of customers waited until Ethan showed up to work. He was cute and energetic even this early in the morning. A lot of beings appreciate it.
The two enter the fancy restaurant, Ethan heading towards to back to put on his apron and to clock in.
"Morning, sunshine," his co-worker, Jeffery, greets. He's one of the main cooks.
"Good morning, Jeff. How are you this morning?"
"I'm doing good. How are you?"
"Tired, but good. It's just been a long weekend." Ethan gets one day off a week and typically it's Wednesdays. He works throughout the weekend, which is the busiest time.
"I know, kid. Now, get your cute butt out there and get to work." Jeff winks at Ethan who cheekily smiles in response. Jeff has been trying to get in Ethan's pants ever since he turned 16, which is the legal age in their new world.
