Chapter 3 - The in between

Jorge and Aidan are in the airport. Jorge has decided to tag along and fly with Aidan on his visit to Nicole.

Now that Jorge and Aidan are all set and are now waiting to board the plane they decide to have a seat and relax a little bit.

They sit down across from a young man. He seemed nervous. He'd probably never been on a plane before. The guy had short black hair, almost a buzz cut but not as short. He seemed slightly tall, probably about six feet tall. Couldn't see his eyes as he kept looking down at a book he was reading. 

Aidan leaned close to Jorge and whispered: "Should we try and talk to him?"

"Probably not, we should just focus on ourselves for right now," Jorge replied

Aidan being the friendly guy he is decided to say something to the guy.

"Uh...Hi" Aidan said directed towards the mystery guy sitting across from him.

The guy looked up and replied "Hi"

"My names Aidan."  Aidan said awkwardly.

".."

The guy says nothing back and keeps reading his book.

"Hey, my name's Jorge." Jorge said in hopes to not make Aidan look like an idiot.

The guy looks up, gives a small sigh and closes his book.

"Hi, I'm Chris."He responded 

"Well Chris, you seem a little nervous, is this your first time on a plane?" Asked Aidan

"It is." Chris replied softly 

"Well, I'm sure everything will go fine. I've been on plenty of planes before and none have ever crashed." Aidan said trying to calm Chris

"Yea, I mean the statistics on plane crashes are what? Like 1 in 1000 chance. I'm sure everything will go fine" Replied Jorge 

Off a little bit in the distance, they all hear a noise. It sounds bad. 

"What was that?" Chris said nervously

"I'm sure it was nothing " Replied Aidan

Another noise that sounded similar to the previous one. This time sounding a bit further away from them.

"I don't feel so good right now" Chris said 

"Look, I'm sure everything's fine." Replied Aidan 

As soon as Aidan finishes his sentence a man stands up about 10 feet away from them and detonates a bomb that was strapped to his chest. It exploded.

Jorge crawls to try and find Aidan who was the closest to the explosion. After crawling for a few minutes he sees Aidan. Aidan was completely knocked out. With all the strength he had Jorge carried Aidan out to safety.  

Jorge would find a way out of the airport carrying Aidan back to his car. He knew he had to get Aidan to a hospital quick. He props Aidan up in the front seat. Luckily the hospital is somewhat close. About a twenty minute drive.

A day goes by after the attack. Jorge sitting next to Aidan who's in a hospital bed still unconscious. The doctor walks in the room and informs me that he was in a coma. They said they tried to contact Aidan's wife Nicole but they couldn't get ahold of her. They said they'd try again within the hour. They never did get ahold of her. The outbreak started that day. There were a lot of attacks that day. It seemed anyone who died from the bomb wouldn't be dead for long. 

Two days go by before Jorge takes Aidan out of the hospital which about an hour later was overrun with zombies. He brings him back to his house. He sets everything up for him in the master bedroom. With Aidan still being in a coma, Jorge would have to keep a close eye on him to make sure he was still alive.
