Chapter 34

Megan's POV

After we all got dinner I was still worried about Jayden. She seemed off today. Well the last few days really, but I guess I'm just being paranoid. We were walking to a store downtown to buy Haley a new laptop. Drew was talking to me but I wasn't really listening. He started to notice and just smiled.

"Megan what's wrong?" He asked taking my hand and intertwining our fingers.

"It's Jayden." I sighed. "She's sick and I'm worried about her."

"Why don't we go home then. You can check on her and we can just watch a movie or something."

"You won't be mad?" I asked.

"No I won't." He smiled. "Lets go."

We told Keaton and Haley we were going home and they waved as we left. Drew drove us to the apartment and he talked about this book he was reading. It sounded pretty good if you're into the whole self positivity thing.

Once we got to my apartment I unlocked the door and walked inside. I stopped as I saw something I wasn't expecting. Wesley was on the couch with his arm around Jayden. She was laughing too. That's something I haven't heard in awhile.

"Hey guys." I said to let them know I was in the room.

"Oh Megan! Hey, you're home early." Jayden said.

"Yeah I was worried about you." I smiled the looked back at Drew who was now making popcorn. "Nice to see you Wesley." I added.

"Yeah, I uh came to see how she was feeling?" He looked at Jayden questioningly, like he didn't know what to say.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"Yeah you two are acting like you got away with a major crime." Drew laughed taking the popcorn out.

"We have something to tell you, but not until Haley and Keats get home." Jayden smiled.

"Um okay?" I said. "Did you two get back together?" I asked taking in how close they were sitting and the unusually comfortable look on their faces.

"Just wait until Haley and Keaton are here." Jayden smiled.

"Well until then what movie?" Drew asked.

We'd been watching the movie for about twenty minutes and eating popcorn when Haley came in with Keaton right at he heels. They were giggling and shushing each other. They smiled when they saw us.

"Hey guys. I got that laptop, and look, it's blue!" Haley said holding up the box.

"She's the only person I know who picks things based only on color." Keaton shook his head. "Why's Wes here?"

"Can I not come visit my girlfriend?" Wes laughed squeezing Jayden's shoulder.

"Awe you guys are back together!" Haley jumped happily.

"Finally, it's been miserable with you two lately." I added to her enthusiasm.

"We need to tell you guys something actually." Jayden smiled getting everyone's attention.

"What's up?" Me and Drew said in unison.

Jayden's POV

"What's up?" Megan and Drew asked in unison.

I looked around to each of them and suddenly felt nervous. What if they don't agree with my choice? No I don't care! I told myself. Then my eyes met Wesley's and I truly didn't care what anyone else thought. I have him and he's on my side in this.

"We're having a baby." I said still looking at Wes. Wen I said it his face broke into a smile of pure joy.

"Oh my gosh! You're pregnant! That explains why you've been throwing up and everything." Megan sighed in relief. " Congratulations." She added smiling.

Drew looked excited. "Yeah congrats bro!" He smacked Wes on the shoulder. " I love kids!"

"How's uncle Keaton feel about this?" I asked

"Are you sure Wes can be a dad?" He laughed. "I mean he can't even clean his room so if you need help come to me or Drew in stead of him."

"Wesley is going to be a great dad!" I said looking back at him.

"Yeah Keaton!" Wes said mockingly.

"I'm happy as long as you are." Keaton smiled. "Congratulations."

"You guys are going to have the cutest baby ever!" Megan squealed.

I noticed Haley was being awful quiet. She hadn't said anything at all and she was just staring at the ground. I stood up and crossed the room to her taking her hands in mine and swinging them between us.

"How does aunt Haley feel about this?" I asked.

Her head lifted and she smiled a tight smile. "I'm happy for you." She said. I cold tell she was lying though and it hurt. It hurt bad.

I didn't say anything back. I just dropped her hands and stared at her questioningly. "Why are you lying?" I asked quietly. Everyone else seemed to be in their own discussions now ignoring us. That is except Wesley of course. I could see him watching us.

"I should be happy for you." She said sighing. "I'm just worried though. I mean I saw what happened when Wes left you. What happens when he leaves you and a baby? Then there's the fact that you're only eighteen and what about dancing?" She rambled on hurting me more and more. Each word felt like a knife cutting my heart open.

"Haley don't sweat it. I don't need to be a dancer, because I'd much rather be a mother. So what I'm only eighteen? I'm happy and that's more than most people twice my age can say!" I snapped then regained composure.

"And I won't leave her, ever." Wes added coming to stand next to me.

"You say that now." Haley snorted. "I am happy that you're happy Jayden, but I don't think this is going to be a blessing."

"Well good thing I don't care what you think then." I said turning around and walking to the couch and sitting down. "Feel free to pack your things and move back in with Dad."

"So you're kicking me out because I disagree with you?" She said in a bitchy tone.

"No. I'm kicking you out because I don't want your negativity around me during my pregnancy." I said calmly.

"Jay!" Megan gave me a look.

"Then I'll pack my shit now since I'm such an inconvenience." She said sounding hurt.

I turned my head and sighed. "Wait!" I stood up.

"What?" Hal asked.

"I'm sorry. Please stay! I can't do this without you here." I said.

"Jayden I love you but maybe I should leave." She said shifting her weight.

"Haley you've asked me a hundred times what the meaning of life is, and now I'm telling you. It isn't about boys or music or anything else I ever said." I sighed. "It's about being selfless in your choices and giving back to those who give to you. It's being the best person you can be to make the world a better place. Haley it's being there when others need you, and I need you."

"She right." Drew smiled. "That might be the smartest thing I've ever heard Jayden say."

"Okay." She said looking ready to cry. "I'll stay." She smiled.

Everyone said awe as I stood up and hugged my sister. Before I could pull away I felt Wes join our hug. Then Drew and Megan along with Keaton. It was a group hug of my closest friends and family. A month ago if someone told me this is how things would go I'd have slapped them. Now though I'm happy this is the course my life's taken. This isn't the end, it's a whole new beginning.
