My grandma and I talked for hours. It was late at night when we finally decided to go to bed. I was shocked at the news that I was the chosen witch, but I had suspected someting similar to that when I had the whole fiasco with Alara and Jeremiah. My grandma told me she would begin teaching me magic, so when Jeremiah tried to use me and someone close to me in the sacrifice, I could protect myself and whoever. I trudged off to bed with my eyelids heavy, and my feet dragging. The grief for my parents was pushed away to some dark corner of my mind, were it would stay for a while. As long as I had this drive to protect myself and my loved ones from Jeremiah, I could be less aware of the fact that they were never coming back. I climbed into bed with a sigh, snuggiling into a warm cocoon in my soft blankets. It was odd not sleeping with the small body of Dusty snuggled up to me underneath the blankets.
When they found my parents remains, they hadn't found the body of Dusty. They assumed he had run away in a panic after the car crash. I knew he was probably dead. I was sad over his loss also, but I put it in the corner of my mind with the grief of my parents. As I got closer and closer to unconsiousness, my mind wandered to the training lesson my grandma was doing tommorow morning. I was excited and scared at the same time. What if I mess up and hurt someone? I canceled the thought and snuggled deeper in my forest of blankets. Soon, I was fast asleep.

I awoke to loud classical music coming from downstairs. My eyes snapped open and I grumpily flung my covers back. I looked at the clock by my bed. Six in the morning. Who would play classical music at six in the morning?!? I walked out of my room barefoot and stomped downstairs, my vision blurry. "Morning!" My grandma said cheerily. I squinted at her. She was in a blue-green sweat suit with a bright smile on her face. I could smell breakfast cooking from the kitchen. "What's with the music?" I asked with a yawn. "It calms and awakens the mind. It also helps the soul." She said, going over to the big stereo system and turning it up even louder. "Breakfast is in the kitchen! I suggest you get dressed in something comfortable first!" She yelled over the music. She then twirled into the living room. I rolled my eyes, but went back upstairs to my room and got dressed in pink sweatpants and a black tank-top. I put my hair in a high ponytail and brushed my teeth.
I also put on make-up. I went back downstairs and into the big kitchen, sitting at the table. "What's for breakfast?" I asked staring at my grandma's back as she worked at the stove. "Eggs, toast, and OJ! Just how you like it!" She said sitting a plate of scrambled eggs and toast and a glass of orange juice in front of me. I heard my stomach growl and realized that I was starving. I couldn't remember my last meal. I ate greedily, finishing in record time. I downed my orange juice and satisfyingly put my plate and cup in the dishwasher. I was starting to enjoy the classical music. It was really pretty. I walked to my HUGE living room were my granma was. All the furniture was moved back against the wall so it looked even bigger than normal. "What's going on?" I asked, confused. "This is where we are practicing." She said, taking a glance around to make sure everything was far enough against the wall. She walked over to a chair and started moving it.
When she was satisfied that it was ok, she brought out a tall stool to the middle of the room. She took stuff out of a bag I hadn't noticed by her feet. She layed a few feathers, a ballon, a bottle of water, and a rock on the stool. "Let's start with something easy. Try making that feather float." She commanded. I didn't really know how, so I just looked at it and focused on trying to make it float. Nothing was happening. When she saw I was just staring at it she burst into laugter. "Not like that, silly. Like this." She placed her veiny hand above the feathers and slowly lifted her hand up. The feathers followed. I stared in amazement. I had never seen anything like that before. I took a quick glance at her eyes. Her irises were white, since she was using magic. She dropped her hand to her side and the feathers floated back down to the stool. She smiled. "Now, you try." I became nervous, remember the time in the hospital room. "I-I can't. I'm afraid I will lose control. Like in the hospital room." I said quietly, studying my sneakers. She put her hand on my shoulder. "That won't happen. Jeremiah was making you act that way. You're in control now." She said, smiling.
I nodded, and shakily placed my hand above the feathers. I focused all of my energy on my hand, and imagined the energy flowing out of my palm and connecting with the feathers. I slowly lifted my hand up and the feathers followed. I sucked in a breath. I moved my hand left and right, the feathers following. My grandma burst into applause. I lost my concentration and the featers floated back down to the stool. I looked up to my grandma, a smile on my face. "You did it! I'm so proud of you!" She shrieked, happy tears in her eyes. I laughed and hugged her. "Ok, now lets-" She was cut off by a knocking at the door, then Brooke came in. My grandma and I stared at her. "Hey, you all!" She said. We smiled and muttered hello's. My grandma put the practicing items back into her bag, excused herself, and left the room. I turned to Brooke. "So, I have a surprise for you." She said waggling her eyebrows and smirking. I smiled. Brooke was so caught up in her excitement, she didn't seem to notice the placing of the furniture.
"What's that?" I asked, caught up in her happiness. When Brooke was happy, it was infectious to everyone. "Taylor, Autumn, Brian, me , and you, are going to go somewhere and have fun all day. To get your mind off things." She said with a knowing smile. I sighed, but knew she would drag me with her if I tried to refuse. "Where are we going?" I asked. "It's a surprise, but it will be AWSOME!!!!!" She declared. I laughed. "Now go get your stuff, everyone's waiting outside in Taylor's car." She said, before racing out the door. I laughed again, and went upstairs to pack my stuff.
