"I love you, too." I said to Brian. A smile lit up his face and he picked me up in his arms and spun me around. I giggled and he sat me down. "How about we get out of this rain?" Brian said, pointing to a closed down coffee shop with an awning that gave cover to a lone table and two chairs. I nodded and we went over and sat down at the table. "So, how did this happen?" He said, taking my hand across the table and giving it a squeeze. "It's a long story." I sighed. He looked out at the angry storm. "I think we'll have time. I don't know about you, but I don't want to head back to the hotel in this weather." He said with a smile. I smiled back. I began to tell him my story, starting with the incident at the property, and ending with the practice session with my grandma. His eyes seemed to get wider with every new bit of information. Once I finished, he was quiet. "So, this Jeremiah dude wants to sacrifice you and a human close to you so he can come back to life?" Brian asked, his brow furrowed. I nodded hesitantly. "Well, we have to stop him! You are not going to die. I'm not going to stand by while my girlfriend is sacrificed on some alter!" He said, slamming his fist on the table. The impact of his fist vibrated the table. "Brian, calm down! My grandma and I aren't going to let that happen. Trust me." I said, looking deep into his eyes.

He breathed in and out for a few moments, pinching the bridge of his nose with his eyes closed. He nodded once and then slowly opened his eyes, removing his hand from his nose. He gave me a shaky smile. "So, I'm your girlfriend now?" I asked, smirking at him. A light blush colored his cheeks, but he nodded, squeezing my hand. "If that's okay with you...." He trailed off, giving me a worried look. I laughed and nodded. He smiled, reileved. I was dizzy with happiness and I just wanted to get up and dance and laugh, but that would be weird so I didn't do it. "I love you." Brian said again, his eyes sparkling. Another crack of thunder sounded. "I love you, too." I replied, meaning it with every fiber of my being. I loved him. "Well isn't this sweet." A familiar voice said. I looked around, startled. "Did you hear that?" I asked Brian. "Hear what?" He asked, a confused look coming to his face. I didn't answer. I was trying to think of where I had heard that voice before. "Katie, what's wrong?" Brian asked worriedly. I shook my head, holding up a hand, signaling for him to be silent. "I'm sorry I have to ruin the moment, but we really must get started." The voice said in my head. A sudden realization hit me. The voice was the one I had heard in the hospital room. Jeremiah. The wind started to pick up, blowing my hair around my face. Thunder boomed so loud that it vibrated in my bones. Lightning flashed a little to close for comfort.

"Brian, we need to get to the hotel!" I yelled over the pounding rain and screaming wind. He nodded and we ran, still holding hands. We made it down the street, rain pouring down on us and pooling around our feet. The hotel was within sight, but there was still a lot of distance to run. Brian stopped for a minute, panting. "Brian, come on! We have to hurry!" I screamed. He nodded and we ran a little ways until suddenly, the same high pitched noise filled my ears. It felt like my head was being torn apart. I screamed, covering my ears with my hands and dropping to my knees. "Katie? Katie! What's wrong?! What's happening?!" Brian yelled, dropping to his knees beside me. "Make it stop! Please, make it stop!" I screamed, tears running down my face, mixing with the rain. "Katie! I'm sorry! I-I don't know what to do!" He yelled, his hands fluttering over me as he tried to think of something. I didn't respond. I just cried harder and clutched my head. The pain was unbearable. "Ok...Katie, honey? I'm going to carry you to the hotel, ok?" He said. I couldn't respond so he just pick me up bridal style. He began to jog to the hotel and pretty soon we arrived in the warm lobby. "What the hell?" Brian whispered. The lights were out and there was no one in the lobby or the cafes.

Suddenly, the pain in my head vanished and I was okay again. "Brian, put me down." I said in my most calm voice. He gave me a hesitant look, but sat me on my feet. "We need to find the guys and girls....let's take the stairs." I said and began walking towards the stairs. Brian followed behind me up the many flights of stairs. It was scary and intimidating how the stairs groaned and the only light was the glow from the exit signs. When we came to the 8th floor we both went in, not willing to leave each others company. The lights were flickering on this floor and the hotel seemed to groan from the strong winds. We came to Brian's room and stopped. The door was opened and no one was in the room. "Damn it!" Brian yelled and threw a glass cup at the wall, where it shattered. He turned around and grabbed my wrists. "What's happening?" He asked, staring pleadingly in my eyes. I stared at him for a moment. "Is it a new moon tonight?" I asked, quietly. His eyes widened and reached over to a table and pulled off a small calender. He flipped through it, his back to me. I went to his side and waited for him to find it. He stopped flipping and stared at the page. The page began to shake and I realized Brian was shaking. I looked at the page and saw what he was looking at. Tonight was a new moon.

The ritual happened tonight.
