"Brian! Brian, please!" I yelled, jogging after Brian, who was walking fast. When he had asked me 'what are you' I had stayed silent, having a mental break down on the inside. He had stared back at me, his face blank of emotion. After he had caught on that I wasn't going to answer him, he had nodded. "Yah. I understand." Then he had stormed off. He had went outside of the hotel and I was currently chasing after him down a deserted street. I tried yelling again. "Brian! Please, slow down!" He stopped and the move was so sudden that I crashed into his back, bouncing back like a tennis ball. Once I had regained my balance I looked into his eyes. They were as hard as steel. His face showed no emotion. I was now silent, not knowing what to say. I couldn't just tell him....could I? I mean, my grandma hadn't told me not to tell anyone. But I had just assumed that it was an unspoken-all knowing kind of thing. My biggest concern was that he wouldn't beileve me or he would think I was a mental freak that needed major help. Which was true, but still. What if he never talks to me again? I was terrified at the thought. Suddenly, Brian's face changed from one of nothing, to awe and confusion. "What does it mean when your eyes turn orange?" He asked, absent-mindingly stroking the skin beside my eye with his thumb.
I gulped. "It means I'm scared." I whispered, turning my head away so he couldn't see my eyes. He took my chin gently in his hand and forced me to look at him. "Why are you scared?" He asked. To my horror, I felt tears come to my eyes. "That I'll lose you." My voice broke. I started to cry. "Shhhh, shhh, why would you lose me?" He soothed, rubbing his hands up and down my arms. "C-cause I-I'm a freak!" I sobbed. He was about to say something, but I cut him off. "I am, Brian. I'm a.......witch." I wispered. He froze, his eyes widening. I looked up at the horizon, then up at the sky. Storm clouds were gathering, and it was going to be a big one. I sighed. Brian still hadn't talked. I stole a quick glance at him to see that he had a concentrating look on his face. I knew he was contemplating what I just said. Finally, he looked at me. He shook his head and took a step back. Away from me. It was pretty easy to see what he thought, now. "Katie...." He trailed off. I nodded, swallowing back the tears that were threatening to spill. It was getting darker every second. You could feel the tension of the storm that was getting ready to happen. "It's ok, Brian. I understand. You shouldn't feel obligated to have to be my friend. You deserve someone better. Someone normal." The clouds broke at that moment, water spewing from the sky in a sudden downpour.
"You don't need to apoligize. I will just-" He broke me off at that moment. By doing the one thing I least expected him to do. He kissed me. It was just like the books and movies. Fireworks exploding in my head. The kiss was passionate. With his lips crashing against mine, he pulled me closer to him. His arms encircled my waist. I was startled for a moment, but then I lost myself in the kiss. I slid my arms around his neck, then weaved me fingers through his short hair. The kiss was starting to go deeper, but I broke it off. I pulled back and looked into his shining eyes. I couldn't help the smile that snaked onto my face. He smiled back. "Katie, I don't care that you're a witch. Their is no way you can lose me." He grabbed my hand. "I have and always will be your's." The grin on my face grew wider and I kissed him again. My hair was stuck to my head from the rain and my clothes were soaked through. So were Brian's. I laughed against his lips and he pulled back, and amused expression on his face. "What?" He asked, smirking. I giggled.
"Look how cute we are. Kissing in the rain like all those couples do in those sappy movies." I said, smiling wickedly at him. He chuckled and pulled me closer, resting is chin on the top of my head."Yah....you just ruined the moment." He said. I laughed and looked into his eyes. "Mmm... there's those blue eyes I love." He said, stroking my cheek. I gazed at him. "Brian, how can you be ok with this? With me being a...witch?" I asked, a serious expression on my face. I was starting to think that this was a dream, because it seemed to good to be true. Lighting flashed in the horizon followed by a very loud crack of thunder that made me jump. Brian just stared at me. He looked like he was mustering up the courage to say something. "Katie, I...." He trailed off, swallowing. He looked embarrassed. Oh, no. Did I say something I shouldn't have? I opened my moouth, getting ready to ask if I had said something wrong, but he held up a hand, gesturing for me to be quiet. I watched him curiously. He let out a sigh, then turned to face me, a serious look on his face. He rested his hands on my shoulders. Finally, he said it.
"Katie, I love you."
