“…I don’t have evidence to prove, but after that, he did give me an ultimatum: get back with him and everything will be dropped, or else. At the time I didn’t know what the ‘or else’ meant, but I was sure it was an empty threat, guess I was wrong. The next court date, the judge was ready to grant us a co-parent agreement, but he lied to the court, and filled everybody with lies. Saying, I was addicted to drugs, and that I was too unstable to take care of myself, let alone a child. Didn’t help he had his daddy there defending him, I had met his family on more than one occasion, so they were considered ‘suitable witnesses’ for everything Aaron was telling the court room. At that point I wanted to die, but I couldn’t give him the satisfaction, and I had a son to live for. The judge granted him custody until the next court date. They investigated my home life, and did deem the place unfit to raise a child since my mother was the actual drug addict. I didn’t disagree with them, nor did I argue, but there was nothing I could do at the time, I had lost my job because I was taking care of my sick child, and I don’t regret taking that time off from work. I had to stay with my mom, because not only was I unemployed, but I was a full time student, actually I still am, and we weren’t really close to either side of our family, except my grandmother, but I didn’t want to bring a baby into her house, and keep her up all times of the night, so I stayed. I spent so much time stressing out about losing my child, that I had stopped looking for work, and started focusing more on trying every way possible to win my child over. I ended up losing custody anyway, and am only able to see Amir when Aaron says it’s ok, I didn’t get to see my child once last year, as a matter of fact, I’ve only seen my son 9 times since Aaron was granted full custody” I paused to catch my breath and wipe the streaming tears. I’m sitting in Ms. Love’s office explaining every detail of the past case with Aaron. “I finally pulled myself together, seeing as though that was the only way I would be able to get Amir back. I worked harder in school, I found another job, I moved out of my mom’s house, and later out of my brother’s baby mama house, I found a nice 3 bedroom apartment, I gained custody over my sister” I smiled a little at that. “If I wasn’t granted the custody over my sister, I probably wouldn’t even putting this fight up right now, I would probably be waiting until I felt confident enough to go at this again. Nothing is holding me back this time, I’m ready for this fight now. I graduate in about 3 months with a degree in both Homeland Security and Forensic Science, and minor in business management. In September I’ll officially be working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and I go to training the middle of July, so there’s no reason I should be deemed unfit now.” I finished with a sense of accomplishment and a smile, but I didn’t wanna get my hopes to high, so the smile was small.

“Are there any secrets that he could possibly use against you?” she asked me. I thought about it, and came up with nothing. “I mean, I did get into a few fights in high school, but it was always after school, and off school grounds, and it was before I got pregnant. After I had Amir, my life changed for the better, I cleaned up my act, and he became my number one priority, don’t me get me wrong, I still got my school work done. Amir is and always will be my pride and joy.” “Were you ever arrested for those assaults from high school???” “No, the parents didn’t press charges either, well they couldn’t” I confessed. “Why not?” she asked confused. “A few kids from school recorded the fights, I was acting in self-defense. The videos were uploaded to YouTube, I’m not sure if they’re still up.” “Ok, and that’s it?” “Yeah. That I can think of.” “Tell me about your parents and your family.” I looked at her as though she had a 3rd eye, since I’ve explained all of this to her previously, but I sighed and told her anyway.

“My parents were happy. They ended up splitting up, not sure if it was a divorce or separation. Anyway, my dad left not long after my sister was born, and we didn’t see him that much. My mother turned to alcohol and drugs, to help her cope with my dad leaving. We all took it pretty hard, but my brother and I couldn’t let our little sister see us down, she was so innocent and full of life, she kept us going. Our mom started staying out all night, coming home when she felt like it, doing whatever she wanted when she wanted. Monique didn’t know who she was and often addressed Brandon and I as ‘mommy’ and ‘daddy.’ Of course mommy dearest was upset, but that was her fault, so she stayed home a little more, but that only lasted about a month. After Brandon turned 18, daddy dearest popped back up in his life, and the same happened once I turned 18, and I’m sure once Monique turns 18, he’ll pop up in her life. Brandon was shot and killed supposedly by a stray bullet, 2 months before he turned 25. That was the hardest thing Monique and I had to deal with, he acted as a father figure in both of our lives, especially Monique since she was so young, when dad dipped out.” I told her. “Ok, when you say supposedly by a stray bullet, what do you mean by that?” she stopped me before I could go on. “The tip was received anonymously by the police, but I stayed with his child’s mother for a little while. That girl is a nut case, it’s like she has control issues, and she’s clingy. I just got a weird vibe from her, so I wouldn’t be surprised if my brother threatened to leave her & take their child, and she ended up killing him.” She giggled a little at my remark “Ok, now that I know every detail possible pertaining to the case, I can start putting some things together. How soon do you want to start?” “As soon as possible.” “Alright, well I’ll get started on working on a court date. Does he know you’re about to do this?” “Nope, he’s about to get the surprise of his life” I smirked. “Good. Well, I have another appointment in about 5 minutes, but I will be in contact with you, so be sure to answer your phone as often as possible, and return any of my missed calls as soon as possible.” “Ok, thanks again.” “No problem, I’ve been waiting to get in the court room with either of the Jackson’s again” she had a sinister look in her eyes “If you can get any dirt on Aaron, that’d be great.” I nodded and thanked her again before walking out and heading to the car. Issa ended up letting me have his Dodge Charger, and I let Monique keep my car.
