::Issa::
Tallia called me yesterday excited about getting custody of her son back. I know exactly how that feels, and I’m more than happy for her. I’ll probably take her, Isa, and Amir somewhere tomorrow to celebrate the win or something. We might go to the Children’s Museum or Sky Zone or both.
I’ve been in the studio all week; that shit is tiring, but I’m always back before Isa gets out of school. But even she’s had to go with me a couple of times to the studio, just so I could finish whatever song I was working on. Speaking of Isa, she has one more week left in school, and then it’ll be summer break. I don’t know what I’m gonna do with her, I really don’t want her traveling like that, and Tallia offered to watch her, but I can’t put that kinda strain on her since she just got her son back. I haven’t heard from Ricki in forever, her number was disconnected and she won’t talk to nobody she knew down here. Her mom is going to visit her in a few weeks, and I’m going too, ma dukes is gonna watch Isa for those few days. Now back to Isa, I’ll probably take her to the first few shows just to see if I can handle it, and if I can’t I’ll see if Ms. Jiles or one of my aunts can keep her. Tallia will be an emergency back up. I can’t believe my child is going to the 2nd grade next year, time is flying by. Looks like it’s about time I go get her from school now tho.
As soon as I pulled up into her school’s parking lot, my phone rang. “Yeah.” I answered not bothering to look at the caller i.d. “I’m taking Amir out for ice cream, I was wondering if you and Isa wanted to join?” Tallia spoke into the phone. “Yeah, sure. I’m picking her up now, so I’ll meet you up there?” I questioned. “Yeah, that’s fine, I gotta wait another 10-15 minutes before they let us out” she said sounding annoyed. What the hell??? Why she sitting inside??? “Why????” I was completely confused. “Amir goes to a prestigious private school. And I have to sit in the child pick up room with him, until every child is where they’re supposed to be.” She told me, this I gotta see. I might have to send Isa up there. “Well at least the school is safe” I said looking on the bright side, as Isa hopped in the car. “Yeah, I guess. I gotta go, Amir is ready to tell me about his day” she sounded extremely happy. “Alright, well I see you at Cold Stone???” we never did say which ice cream we were going to. “Yep! See you then” she giggled hanging up. “Wanna go get ice cream, and tell me about your day?” I asked Isa. “Yes!!!!!!” she exclaimed. Shit! Now I gotta wait on these raggedy ass buses to leave first. It’ll give Tallia some time to get outta school. I chuckled to myself at that thought. I relaxed more into my seat, and checked my calendar to see what upcoming events I had. Nothing except the studio, and tour rehearsal until after I get back from visiting Ricki. Isa hasn’t said anything about Ricki at all, and I’ve tried to see if she wants to visit her, but Isa either ignores the question altogether, or she tells me a quick ‘no,’ I even tried getting her to talk to Ricki over the phone, she wouldn’t do that either, and then eventually Ricki changed her number. So, I’ve left the subject alone, neither of them are making the effort to talk to each other, so why should I? “Daddy, are we gonna see Lia soon?” Isa asked after she finished singing along to the song on the radio. “Yeah, we’re going to get ice cream with her in a few minutes” I said finally being able to pull off. “Yay!!!!” “You might be making a new friend today too.” “Who is she???” “It’s a boy.” “Boys are yucky” she said with disgust obviously in her voice. I’m glad she feels that way, I just hope it stays like that, it’ll make my job as a dad so much easier. “You, papa, pop pop (Issa’s grand dad) and Uncle Kei are the only boys not yucky” she clarified. “That’s good, but this boy is Lia’s son.” “What does that mean?” “Like I’m your daddy, well Lia is his mommy” I tried to explain as simple as possible. “I just don’t like boys” she said nonchalantly. This is gonna be a long day. “Just be nice, ok?” “Ooookkkkk” she agreed like I was annoying her. Only my child.
