The Heirs

chapter 10

*Luna's POV *

Her mind was whirling. Is he going to turn me in?  Does he know?
Grinding her teeth she forced her injured arm back in its socket.
Gingerly rolling her arm she sat up.
What's he planning? Her heart started to beat faster. What do I do?  What do I do?
Just when she started to get off the bed the door opened. She froze staring like a deer in the headlights.
The ninja stood there with a hesitant smile on his face. "Will you tell me your name kid?" She shook her head.
He sighed and thrust his hand forward " My name's Minato, nice to meet you." hesitantly she reached for his hand and shook it softly.
"Lu" she whispered, not daring to use her whole name. Smiling wide he brought her to the kitchen. "I thought you might be hungry. It doesn't look like you weight much." Sitting down she stared at all the food. A woman with red hair appeared next to her smiling warmly. "Hello there, my name's Kushina. What's yours?"
Shame welled up making her blush "..Lu" Damn I hate lying! I'm just so bad at it.
Still smiling warmly she sat down and started heaping the plates.
"How's your arm? I could have sworn it was unusable." Forcing her eyes from the food she stared at Minato "No everything's fine." his eyes narrowed suspiciously but he kept his mouth shut.
Her blush deepend, letting her hair fall forward she tried desperately to hide it. "Well shall we start eating everyone?" Minato smiled at her "It looks delicious love."
The two started eating while constantly chatting with each other.
Tentatively reaching for her food she started eating, hesitantly at first then with a look on the couple she started to wolf it down as fast as she could.

In the weeks that followed she saw Minato and Kushina regularly. She even started to feel safe around them, no longer afraid that they recognised her and turn her in.
Alec was still suspicious but didn't stop her when she kept going back to the hidden leaf.

"The cave is starting to look pretty brother." looking around she noticed the candles that were strategically placed and the sleeping places had both some personal stuff and a blanket. "Yeah, well it isn't much but at least we'll both be able to sleep under a blanket now." "Yeah that really is an improvement from last year." I miss home and mummy and daddy. I don't want to live in a bloody cave! Turning her head away from him she studied the wall.
Alec sighed loudly " I know it doesn't feel like home and maybe we have to move soon, but at least it is something that we can call, for the time being ,home sis." "I know..." turning around she walked to her sleeping place. "Goodnight" laying down she tried to sleep on the hard stone. Luckily for me I'm never cold. "Goodnight sis." Listening she waited 'till his footsteps were nothing but a faint echo. He'll probably scout the inner tunnels for escape routes and all. It didn't take long before her eyes stayed close and she dreamt peacefully.
