Growing up in a wealthy family wasn't always a good thing. Being pushed to look and act like the perfect lady especially when you are trying to empress all the wealthy family's with young men your age wasn't what I saw as fun .. My father always wanted a son so he sometimes snuck me away ... those were the days that I enjoyed the most and that is where I was in my mind today.
My mother's yelling startles me back to what I was doing
"Kasandra get in here now you should have been up and ready for lessons hours ago"
Walking in to the library I muttered " I'm here mother." As I sat she scolded me " young ladies do not mumble and as I am raising a young lady you will not mumble, and it matters not what your lesson is today you will not speak again unless you are asked to!" I nod and answer her in the proper way " yes mother of course".

As my mother started the lesson my mind started to drift to tomorrow I was going to get to go with father again into the next town to talk to a orchard owner to buy a bunch of apples for the livestock and for my thirteenth birthday. My mother slamming a book down on the table brought me back
"Kasandra are you even listening to me you have to know all this if you ever hope to marry a good man" afraid to speak and earn more scolding I just nodded.

The day kept going like this I would let my mind wonder and mother would scold me for day dreaming and barrate me telling me that all  I was worth was what I could bring to my family was the man that I married and he had to be a good one.  I was only 13 but to my mother I might as well be getting married tomorrow ... Being the only child that my mother had was a curse because I was the only focus she had ....

Unlike yesterday I was awake when the sun rose ready to go with my father. Laughing at my eagerness my father loving asked " do you have every thing you need for the trip" I nodded " of course father I was packed yesterday. Can we please leave now please sir"
Father just smiled and motioned for me to head to the carriage. I ran to the carriage much to my mothers dismay she yelled " Ladies do not run Kassandra stop that " I rolled my eyes and kept going reaching the carriage before the man could open the door giggling I climbed in.

I fell asleep not long after leaving our home so the ride wasn't as long to me any way. When we arrived at the Orchard the trees where so full of beautiful red apples my mouth was watering just thinking about how tasty they would be. We met with the owner and his son shortly after the meeting started the owners son asked my father "sir may your daughter come down to the river with me." .......
I looked up at my father a smile on my face pleading him to say yes, my mother wouldn't approve but oh how I hoped he would let me... When he nodded yes I hugged him and followed the owners son.
