FINE I'll post the next part
I guess this chapter will be a little long for some reason. There's some lapis n peridot interaction at the end so it's worth it ;)
- Steven's POV -
I sit next to Corundum Peridot, a girl who's mother killed millions of humans and witches alike. I have no idea how dangerous this girl can be, but I decide not to make matters worse, and help her.
"I know your mother has hurt a lot of people," I say, sadness melting every word,"But I want to help you, maybe you'll learn that we aren't so bad at all." I put my hand on hers, but she pulls back with cat-like reflexes.
"There's no way I'll trust wild animals like you," She spits,"You might've fixed my eyesight, but that just makes you even more dangerous."
"Well, maybe if you just--maybe if you just knew how bad things are for us, you'd be a crystal witch, too." She pauses, and examines me. She loosens up her posture, then slouches and sighs. "I'm a human, too. I can't smell. I'm different from everyone else." I lift up my shirt, showing her the witch birthmark on my belly button.
"What are you doing with me?"
"Well, we were going to Hawaii. But now, we might be going back to the capital." I let a nervous laugh,"That's all I can tell you, sorry. Pearl would be mad at me if I gave any more information."
"Hey, what's your name?"
"I'm Steven! Oh, I wrote a song, want to hear it?"
"Uh -"
I pull out my ukulele, painted on it is an orange-ish sunset that mimics the one outside. I sing,"If you're evil and you're on the rise, you can count on the seven, no eight of us taking you down! 'Cuz we're good and evil never beats us, we'll win the fight, and then go out for pizzas! We, are the Crystal Gems, we'll always save the day! And if you think we can't, we'll always find a way! That's why the people of your world, believe in; Garnet!"-- "Amethyst"--"Pearl, it's your turn!"--"Right, and Pearl!"-- "And Steven!"--"And Lapis Lazuli."--"And Sapphire, and Ruby!"
- Lapis' POV -
The song is cute, I giggle at the end.
"It's still a work in progress," Steven chuckles,"Do you like it?"
"It's... Definitely something," The stupid Corundum chokes up a smile.
The rest of the van is quiet, except Steven trying to keep a conversation with the Corundum. I sort of feel a bit of envy, this girl could be stealing my best friend.
I prop my bare feet up on the top of the glove compartment. "Where are we going?"
"Back to the capital. Getting ready for battle," Pearl answers. She turns her head for a split second. "Get your bare feet off my van."
"I bathe every two seconds," I chuckle.
"I don't care. It's gross."
Well, she's just a bucket of fun. I focus my attention to the back of the van. Steven's teaching the Corundum to play ukulele. He never did that with me. I decide to go to the back, to get in on their conversation. Show that pathetic Corundum that he's my best friend. I sit on the outside next to Steven.
"Hey Beach Summer Fun Buddy!"
"Hey Lapis! I'm teaching Corundum Peridot to play ukulele!" He shows me a smile the size of the sun itself. Corundum shows me a nervous smile, and a bit of blush. I shoot her a scowl. She furrows her brow. Steven notices her discomfort, and asks her what's wrong.
"Nothing," She lies. But she doesn't know Steven as well as I. He can see through a lie easily.
He turns to me. "Lapis, what's wrong?"
"It's her. I hate every part of her," I admit.
"Lapis, she may have done bad things, but there is still a chance she can change! Right, Peridot?"
"Who said I wanted to change?" Her voice is so annoying. It's a parasite eating my brain. It's the sun in my eyes when I wake in the morning. Steven gives her a look, a tragic one. He's upset too. I take his hand.
"This is why you shouldn't try to talk them out of it. They won't ever change. It's not worth it."
