Chapter Eight | Truth ~ Part 1

The two Gilbert sisters sit on the ground in the dark room, waiting for the Original in a suit to wake up.

Laura fiddles with the dagger in her hand, inspecting every detail while life comes back to Elijah.

A loud gasp fills the room, making both of them jump back in fear. Laura grabs Elena, who pulling her sister behind her.

Elijah looks at them in shock

"Laura? Katerina?".

"Elijah! It's me, it's Elena and Laura".

"Oh, my God" Elijah still seems confused by the two, the eldest Gilbert reaches out, taking his hand in hers which instantly calms the vampire.

"Elijah" She says softly. He closes his eyes, seeming to relax but his body spasms. The sisters share a puzzled look. Elijah pulls away, gasping for air.

LI can't-I can't breathe! What's happening to me?".

The Original speeds to the door, slamming against an invisible force and Laura runs over to hold him up. "I can't...I can't be in this house".

"You're not invited in" Elena confirms from the other side of the room.

"Then get me out of here".

After slamming into a wall, disappearing, the two Gilbert's sprint after him, ending up at the front door. He attempts to rush back in but stops when he can't get through.

"What happened?".

"Shh!" The doppelgänger motions around the house, meaning that there are vampires in there such as Damon and Stefan who might hear them.

"We will tell you. Not here. Can I trust you?".

"Can I trust you?" Elijah says, only to Elena. The dagger is then given to the Original who accepts it.

Elena is driving along a Mystic Falls road but she pulls over, waiting for Elijah to finish his blood bag. Laura is in the backseat, watching as he does so.

"You look better".

"Where did you get the dagger?".

"I'll tell you everything. But we have to work together, Elijah. We need your word.".

"Your ability to make demands has long passed".

"No demands. I'm offering you my help. And in return, I want yours".

"And why should I even consider this?".

"The same reason that you haven't killed us. You need our help to kill Klaus. And we need you".

A phone buzzes next to the eldest Gilbert who pick it up, answering.
"Where are you? Are you okay?"

"It's Stefan" She says, handing the phone to her sister.

"Yes, I'm fine. He's right. No, Stefan, Elijah, Laura and I need some time alone. Elijah is a noble man, Stefan. He lives by a code of honor. I can trust him. He knows that I'd be incredibly stupid to betray him again. By removing the dagger, I have proven myself".
