I had spent the entire car ride up there with a feeling of guilt and anxiety gnawing away at my stomach. The guilt being because I kept who we might run into on the trip from them. The anxiety because we may actually run into the person on this trip.
Caroline must've noticed because she looked over and gently put her hand on my shoulder. "Hey, everything okay? You look a little off." It was hard for me to look in those bright blue eyes that were full of compassion, and lie to her.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm Just a little carsick." What else would be wrong? It's not like my boyfriend's been gone. There's also the chance we may face an unsettling reunion where he either loves or hates me. Although thinking about it, the more my anxiety got the better of me, I realized it was being less of lie. If I had kept thinking about all the possible what if's, I may actually puke my guts out.
"Oh okay. Well, if we need to pull over, let me know." I nodded in response as she broke out in a smile. "We should take a selfie to show Stefan when he comes back!"
At those words, I just plastered on the fake smile on my face. It seemed to become easier off the past few days, and I felt like I finally mastered faking happiness. "Yeah, Care! I think he'd love that." In fact, we may see him sooner than you think.
Caroline had brought me out of my trance once I felt the blonde's arm wrap around my shoulders. I did the exact same to her, the both of us giving our best smiles for multiple pictures. Once that was over, she continued what she was doing before. Meanwhile, I went back to staring blankly out the window.
Sleep must've overtaken my body because that was last thing I remembered before Caroline started shaking me.
Fluttering my eyes open at Caroline's touch, I looked up and noticed we were outside the hotel. "We're here!" she said, practically jumping up and down. I groggily stepped out of the car and went to join my best friends with their significant others. Before heading inside, we had gotten our room arrangements. It was Kol with Davina, Bonnie and Caroline with me, and Klaus with Stefan.
I could tell that Damon was full of displeasure at the thought of having to share a room with Klaus. In this moment, I truly realized how much they were doing for me and how grateful I was. After all, Damon wasn't the forgiving type, but he knew that if I was forced to sleep with either of them, he would probably hear about it from Bonnie. After that was settled, we all went upstairs and made our way to the designated rooms.
"I'm so excited! It's just like freshman year all over again!" Bonnie shrieked. "Parties and slumber parties. What more could a group of best friends ask for?" Both of my friends were starting to unpack, admiring the outfits they had set out to wear later. I, on the other hand, was just sitting on the bed, twiddling my thumbs.
Hours had passed and it was finally time for the party that everyone was buzzing about to start. I was wearing my yellow dress with a maroon smokey eye and winged liner; my hair was also curled. Bonnie was wearing a lilac purple dress with winged eyeliner; her hair in a waterfall braid that cascaded down her shoulders. Caroline was wearing a navy blue dress with natural makeup, her hair curled. Davina was wearing green dress with a natural eye and her hair in a bun. We were all wearing flats that matched our dresses. The boys had picked everyone picked everyone up, leaving me to go stag. We left to hotel and went to get 'the party started' as Caroline had said.
