"Is this what you really think it is? You honestly think this could be the case? Why would that be the reason Stefan would be in Texas?!" Bonnie demanded, the anger in her voice ruining her usually calm features. "Wait until Elena hears about this! What do you think she's going to think about your theory?"
"What should I be thinking about Damon's theory?" I asked, smiling at the couple's bickering. I made my way fully through the doorway, listening for where they were. I walked upstairs to find the two huddled in Damon's bedroom, discussing whatever they were about where Stefan could have gone. Looking at Bonnie, she noticed how stressed her best friend looked.
"Just that Damon thinks that the reason Stefan is in Texas is because it has the highest murder rate, so no one will know. Please tell him he's wrong," Bonnie spat, even though her anger was more directed towards her boyfriend.
"He's not wrong, Bon. If Stefan wanted to go on a Ripper rampage, that would be the place he could go and be less detected," I noted, making my way towards the pile of newspaper clippings on the floor.
"Elena! Isn't it your job as my best friend to sick up for me automatically? I would do the same for you!"
"Bon, Elena's entitled to her own opinion. I know I shouldn't be the one saying it, but you taught me that. Plus, Elena knows Stefan better than anyone, so that's saying something," Damon said, putting his arms around Bonnie's shoulders.
"Fine, I guess you're right about that. You know it's a good thing I love you, right? After all, I'm the only person that will hold you accountable, and you'll actually listen. Anyway, are you actually going to tell Elena what else we found?" She asked, pressing a light kiss to Damon's lips.
"Please do so. I've been dying to know!" I exclaimed, giving a small smile to the both of them. "So what is it that you've found?"
"This may not be the best news, but at least it's news....Stefan should be back within the next month to three months."
"That's the news you have for me! You don't have any other ideas of how we're going to get him to come back home? We're just gonna sit here?" I asked him, moving my body so I was facing him. "I respect any decision you have to find him, but if I know something going to do something about it. You'd do the same thing if it were Bonnie."
"Bonnie would never be able to turn her humanity off," Damon laughed, which resulted in me slapping him in the shoulder.
"Well then, I'll help you guys look for more information. There has to be more than what you just told me," I said, going up and flipping threw the articles. "If you ever want to keep something from me, don't tell Bonnie. Don't you know I'd be the first person she would tell? I guess Alaric wasn't one to tell you things immediately."
"I guess I should now that, now shouldn't I?"
"Yeah, you should. Bonnie, aren't we the best witch and doppleganger duo there ever was?" I asked, playfulness in my tone.
"Of course we are," Bonnie announced, her voice certain and firm.
"Personally, I think Emily and Katherine are," Damon grinned, turning his back on the both of us.
"You did not just say that to your girlfriend."
After a couple hours, I had finally figured something out with Stefan. The newspapers stated that the murders were moving east, which is exactly where I would follow. I would find my way back to him, just like I had done before. No matter what it costs. I had spent the day sprawled out on the wood floor, trying to analyze ever last clue until a perfect plan was elaborated in my head.
Exhausted, I found her way out of Damon's room and followed the path to Stefan's. Standing outside the door, I looked inside and remembered everything that had happened in there. I went back and forth between sleeping in the bed, but denied it since I would just feel more lonely than she already was without him beside me
After almost passing out face-first on the floor, I made my way back to the spare bedroom. Putting my hair up, I crawled into the bed and let my head hit the pillow.
The entire night my dreams were full of Stefan and what we would do once he came back to me.
