Luke's POV

Ashton hated me.

He avoided me since breakfast. He wouldn't even look at me.

He even paddled away when I looked at him.

I sighed and paddled to where Ashton had went a few minutes ago. I really needed to apologize. I shouldn't have forced him to eat.

I immediately spotted Anthony's shock of red hair and Michael's blue hair and I paddled closer to them.

They were watching a group of people who had their backs turned to us so we couldn't see their faces.

"Get lost you retarded baboons!" Michael yelled and I frowned.

Who was he talking to?

Suddenly there was a splash.

"ASHTON!" Michael yelled.

Fear immediately ran through me as I realized what had happened.

I immediately got off the kayak and jumped into the freezing cold water.

I swam blindly through the water until I got up and gasped for breath.

Where was he?

I started to panic as my eyes scanned the water and my heart slammed wildly against my chest.

Then I saw him.

I dived under again, not caring if I was losing my breath or not.

I hooked my arms under Ashton's limp body and heaved upwards. The rocks made it hard but I finally got the both of us to the surface.

I gasped in a breath and quickly turned to Ashton.

"Ashton!" I cried out.

He stayed quiet for a few seconds then he suddenly gasped, breathing heavily. He looked up at me through his wet lashes.

"You're okay. I've got you." I told him.

His face was pale and his lips were starting to turn blue. He gripped onto my shirt tightly and I made sure my arm was secure around his waist.

"Anthony! Help me!" The redhead immediately jumped off the kayak and swam over to us.

With the help of Anthony and Michael (even though he was pushing from his own kayak), I manage to get Ashton on a kayak and back to the riverbank.

Once we reached the land, I grabbed every towel I could see, not caring who they belonged to and wrapped them around Ashton.

I hugged him tightly, wanting to be close to him and wanting him to be as warm as possible.

I could feel him shiver and hear his teeth chattering. I looked up at him and cupped his face in my hands.

"Please don't ever scare me like that again." I whispered, looking into his hazel eyes.

He nodded shyly.

I looked down at his lips and frowned.

"Your lips are so blue." I whispered, lightly tracing his bottom lip with my thumb.

I could see the faint blush coat Ashton's cheeks.

My eyes flickered from his eyes then to his lips. From his eyes and to his lips again. His eyes widened a little.

My heart thumped loudly in my chest as I found myself starting to lean in.

Our faces were so close it was-

"What's going on here boys?" A voice asked and I quickly leaned back a little bit, my arms still around Ashton.

Mr. Walker stood there, his arms crossed.

"Ashton fell in the water." Michael explained, although I had a feeling that he wasn't telling him something.

"Are you alright, Mr. Irwin?" The teacher asked.

Ashton nodded cutely and I internally sighed.

What if Mr Walker hadn't interrupted us? Would Ashton let me kiss him? Does he like me the way I like him?

☆☆☆

I sat up in bed.

I couldn't sleep.

Thoughts kept swarming my mind.

I could've lost Ashton today. That thought made fear course through me.

Everyone was asleep.

Then I heard sniffling coming from the bunk above me.

I quickly got up off the bed and climbed the ladder onto Ashton's bed.

"Ashton?" I whispered. I moved forward and placed a hand on his arm. I could feel his body shaking.

I positioned myself so that I lay next to him and put my arm around him.

"Ash, please don't cry." I pleaded.

He let out a choked sob, his back still facing me.

"Ash, please." I turned him around so that he was facing me.

My heart broke at the sight. He had tear streaks running down his face, his eyes framed by wet lashes.

"Hey, please don't cry." I whispered, holding back the urge to call him baby.

"I-i'm s-sorry, Lukey." He whispered back, avoiding my eye contact.

I lifted his chin up with a finger and looked into his eyes.

"I should be the one saying sorry, Ash. I'm sorry for this morning." I said sincerely.

His sobs finally died down and I wrapped my arm tighter around his small body.

Ashton's head lay on my chest and I could see the blush rising on his cheeks.

I don't know where the confidence came from, but at that moment, I leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to his exposed collarbone.

I just loved the blushing face I got in return.
