Neville and I were running into class. Late. Again. I've been in this school for four years and I still always get lost. It doesn't help that Neville's memory is worst then mine. We stoop outside the classroom and I put my ear up against the door. "I can't hear anything." I say. "Do you reckon that he's not there yet?" He replies. "We'll have to find out, I suppose." I say. I open the door and everyone is sitting down. They all turn to look at me. No teacher though. Charlotte 1, Moody 0.

I am about to make my way to a seat when someone one appears beside me and yells "CONSTANT VIGELANCE!!" Neville behind me screams. I laugh and turn my head to see Moody staring at me. I can tell he was hoping for a reaction. "Oh, hey professor."I causally say and take my seat. He walks up to the top of the classroom and I can tell Neville is after sitting down beside me. "And why, are yourself and Mr. Longbottom late to class, Ms. Peverell!?" He says. Well, more like yells, but let's let that slide. "We're not late, sir. Everyone else is simply...early."I say. I can a couple off people behind me try not to laugh. Moody stays still and looks at me very weirdly. "I like you. You have a lot of potential." He says. I laugh."I quite like myself too, sir." I say.

"Right then, I got a letter from professor lupin about this class. Seems you've had a pretty thorough grounding in tackling Dark creatures-you've covered Boggarts, Red Caps, Hinkypunks, Griyndylows, Kappas and Werewoles, is that right?" Moody said. There was a murmur of agreement. "But, you're behind...very behind...on dealing with curses, so i'm here to bring you up to scratch on what wizards can do to each other. I've got one year to teach you on how to deal with dark-" "What aren't you saying." Ron blurted out.

You'll be Arthur Weasley's son, eh?" Moody said. "Your father got me out off a very tight corner a few days ago......yeah, i'm staying just for the one year. Special favor to Dumbeldore......one year, and then back to my quiet retirement." He clapped his hands very loudly. "So-straight into it. Curses. They come in many strengths and forms. So....do any of you known which curses are most heavily punished by wizarding law?" Several hands went into the air.

Moody pointed at Ron "The Imperius Curse." He said. "Ah, yes," Said Moody. "Your father would know that one. Gave the ministry a lot of trouble at one time, the Imperius Curse."Moody reached into a jar and pulled out a spider. He pointed his wand at it and muttered "Imperio" The spider started jumping around the classroom. Everyone was laughing except Moody and I. "Think it's funny, do you?" He said. "You'd like it would you, if I did it to you?" The laughter stopped. "The Imperius Curse can be fought, and i'll be teaching you how, but it takes real strenght of character, and not everyone's got it. Better avoid being hit with it if you can. CONSTENT VIGELENCE!" he yelled. Everyone jumped.

"Can anyone tell me another curse." Most people's hands went up, including Neville's. WHAT! "Yes?" Moody asked Neville. "There's one- the cruciatas curse," said Neville. Moody looked very intently at Neville. "Your a longbottom?" he said. Neville nodded but Moody dropped it. "The Cruciatus Curse" Moody said. He pointed his wand at the spider. "Crucio" The spider started to shake uncontrollably. But Moody make no move to stop. "Stop it!" Hermione screeched. I turned to her but she wasn't looking at Moody she was looking at Neville. I turned to look at Neville. He was gone extremely pale and he wouldn't stop looking at the spider. I took his hand in mine. "Are you okay?" I whispered to him. He seemed to snap out of his daze when Moody stoped the curse. "Ya"He whispered, but anyone could tell he wasn't. "Right...anyone know any others?"Moody asked. Nobody moved. Hermione put her hand up slowly. "Yes" Moody said. "Avada Kedavra"She whispered. "Ah, the killing curse" Moody said. He pointed his wand at the spider. "AVADA KEDAVRA!" He roared. There was a flash of green and the spider was dead.

"Not nice," Moody said calmly. "Not pleasant. And there's no counter-curse. There's no blocking it. Only one known person has ever survived it, and he's sitting right in front off me."
