Christmas Dinner was less the eventful. After dinner I sat in my drawing room. Not drawing but just watching the snow falling in the light from the street lamp. It started snowing last night. The snow sticks to the ground and makes it look like the world is covered in a thin layer of lace. Quite beautiful actually. I pull out my sketch pad and run my fingers through a bunch of drawing pencils until I pick out the perfect one. I start to draw everything I see from where I am. The snow proves some difficulties but I think its alright. Maybe 10 minutes later as I was adding the finishing touches I heard a knock on the door. "Charlotte are you in there?" Draco's voices ring out from outside the door.
"Yes. You can come in" I say not even looking up from my drawing. The door clicks open as Draco walks in. "What are you drawing?" He asks sitting next to me on the sofa in my drawing room. "The street outside" I say twirling the pencil in between my fingers. "You know being able to draw is an amazing gift" He says. "Its not a gift. No one gave it to me. I'm good because I worked it." I say turning to him. "Speaking of gifts I forgot to give you something earlier." Draco says pulling out a small black box. I take it out of his hands and gently lift open the lid. I see a black ring with a green gem in the middle. "It's beautiful" I say taking it out of the box. "It was my Grandmothers but she gave it to my mother and now its yours" He says sliding it on my finger. "Draco...I...can't it belongs to your family" I say shaking my head. "Well if all goes to plan you will be my family so I see no reason for you not to have it". I sigh as I look at the ring on my finger.
An hour later at 11:00 I sat on the stairs admiring the ring. Moving my hand left and right to see the gemstone glisten. I notice something engraved on the inside. I slip the ring off of my finger and read what it says "Amor numquam deficit" I say flicking through all the Latin I know. I know amor means love. I'm not sure about the rest. How would I find out though? Maybe if I look in the library. Father might have a Latin Dictionary. I walk down the rest of the stairs to the door of the library. I push it open and step inside. Its a room full of thousands upon thousands of books. Everything from how to make pasta to how to kill. I look around for a while in a section of Latin books before I find the dictionary. I pull it out of the bookshelf and dust it off. It seems to be very old and I don't think its been opened more than 5 times. Nonetheless I flick through it first to find the word numquam. It means never. Now to find deficit. I do admit it takes me a while to find it. So long I almost gave up when It caught my eye. Putting the words together I got Love never fails. Is it true though? Is it true that love never fails. I heared a story of a wizard once who was in love with a witch but she fell for another boy. A boy more handsome. A boy more powerful. A boy more popular than the other. When ever my mother used to tell me that story I used to pity the boy that was in love the girl. How horrible it must have felt to see that happen. I must have been awake for a long time because I fell asleep right there in the library.
