36: Bumpy Ride

Irene's POV

We finally reached base 1 on one of the many tropical islands of Fiji. Mr. Seo gathered us to tell us final rules.

"Class, we're finally here after a long flight. Here's how the island is laid out. There are 24 bases, as there are 24 pairs. The island has been equally divided so that everyone is separated by 12 acres. That means, it'll take a long walk to see other people understand? So save yourself from the extra pain just because you hate your partner okay?"

"Yes sir!" The class responded.

"Understand Joohyun?"

"Yes sir." The class giggled as the arguments on the plane were probably replaying in their heads.

Mr. Seo had started telling the pairs where to go. The pairs that were far away got to use an ATV to go to their location.

"Seulgi and Jimin.... Base 12."

"Wendy and Suga.... Base 13."

"Joy and Sungjae.... Base 14."

"My favorite, Irene and Taehyung.... Base 15." He said making the rest laugh.

Haha, very funny.

"You two may use that ATV parked by the resting station, and Joohyun, direct Taehyung with the map on where to go."

He said with a big smile plastered on his face. Oh how Mr. Seo was having the time of his life right now.

I looked at Taehyung, then back at the ATV and quickly trudged my way through the sand so I could fit my luggage onto the back first.

Once I reached, I started to load my things. Shortly after I started, Taehyung came up to me, pointing towards his luggage.

"What?" I asked. He's really stupid if he thinks I'm going to load that for him.

"Do it since you forgot to grab the map, making me do extra work... pabo." He mumbled.

"Boo-hoo you big baby. I don't want to."

"Do you think you have a choice?"

"Yes I do. I'm not going to pack your luggage. You can do that yourself."

"I am not going to drive the ATV until you load my luggage." He fought back.

"Move." I said shoving him away from the seat of the ATV.

I sat in the front, which was the driving seat hoping I could get it to move somehow.

"Do you even know how to start it?" He asked.

"Shut up. Of course I do." I said and attempted to start it by pressing random buttons on the vehicle.

"Why isn't it starting?" I asked anxiously as I felt Taehyung's eyes burning holes in the back of my head.

"Looking for this?"

I turned to Taehyung as he was dangling the keys to the ATV in my face, practically calling me stupid. I instantly tried to snatch them away from him, but he was too fast.

He leaned towards my face.

"You know what to do." He said whispering making me feel chills go throughout my body.

He looked back at his luggage.

"First my luggage, then we'll go." He continued with his stupid smirk on his face. 1) because he won this round, and 2) because he knew how he was making me feel.

We both coughed awkwardly to get rid of the tense atmosphere.

"Why is it taking my favorite pair taking so long?!" Mr. Seo yelled at us telling us to hurry up before it gets dark.

"We're about to leave after Irene loads my luggage into the ATV." Taehyung shouted back at him. He then looked back at me and smiled.

"Get going Joohyun!" Mr. Seo said. Now, I guess I have to load his luggage.

I got off the seat and stomped my way to his bags.

After I got the bags loaded in the back, Taehyung sat in the front seat and handed me the map.

"Where should I go?" He asked.

"To hell."

"Yah! Just answer me properly."

"Straight."

He stepped on the gas pedal so hard that we went flying. I was screaming on the top of my lungs while the asshole in front of me is laughing his ass off. Me being unprepared, lost my balance and let go of the map.

"STOP!" I yelled making him slam the breaks, making me grip on tight to his shirt and face-plant into his back.

"Ow." We both said.

"What the hell? Why did you tell me to stop? And goddamn, your nose is so pointy."

"I dropped the map, and how did you ever get your driving license?!"

"When I had my driving test, my mom was there for my support. I was also taking it easy because there was a stranger with me as well. Now all I have is an annoying girl as a nuisance behind me."

"So you're not going to take it easy on me? Aren't we strangers for each other now?" I asked... I kind of wanted to know what level of hatred we were at right now.

It fell silent for a few minutes.

"Yeah sure I'll slow down now." He said before slamming on the gas pedal. He then stopped immediately, making me slam into his back... again.

"Sorry, my bad." He apologized.

We both knew he did it on purpose.

"Since you stopped, I'm going to find the map."

He grabbed my wrist before I could get off the ATV.

"Screw the map, we'll find our way by following the numbers." He wrapped my arms around his waist.

"What are you doing, you pervert?"

"Hold on tight, I'm not slowing down for anyone. It's going to be a bumpy ride."
