Irene's POV

I woke up, changing into my sweatpants and my white t-shirt. I didn't want to impress anyone so early in the morning because I wanted to save the glam for tonight at grad. All the graduates were only going to school for 2 hours today, that too, only to rehearse the ceremony. No one paid much attention to the graduation coordinator as everyone was talking about their dresses, or who they were going to ask out and dance with in the after party.

There's not much to pay attention to during rehearsals anyways. We just need to line up in alphabetical order, according to class. We wait for the music to start playing until we see the person in front of us enter the venue. We walk in our heels, careful not to stumble and fall flat on our faces while the boys were trying to play it cool and chic while walking. From there we take our seats,  and wait for our class to be called up to collect our diplomas. After everyone gets there certificate, the extra awards for honor roll, and top excellence in blah blah blah, and then after our teachers shut their mouths, and tell us, 'move your tassels from left to right, congratulations you've officially graduated!'. That's the last line before everyone throws their caps into the air.

We were in line for the fifth time today. The teachers here strongly believe in the saying 'practice makes perfect'. I looked around to see faces filled with excitement and boredom. I wouldn't blame them. I was really excited to get ready and to finally get my prison break, but I'm stuck here doing unnecessary rehearsals. Something also made me a little uncomfortable.

Jungkook was behind me. We were lined up according to our first names instead of our family names. This school is sure strange. Why can't it be like my old school where we lined up by surnames. Then I would be near the front of the line, then again Jungkook would be the closest one to me out of my group of close friends.

"Noona." Jungkook said leaning closer to me.

"Yeah?"

"Don't feel weird around me. I don't like it."

"I don't like it either Jungkook. I just feel bad that you kept on reaching out to me, but I never noticed it." I said spilling my heart out to him. I didn't want to keep my emotions in any longer.

"Don't feel guilty. It was my fault I didn't confess to you earlier."

"No, it's not Jungkook. Whenever I look back on our moments together, I feel like an idiot. It's like a crossword. All of the words are right in front of me but I still couldn't find them."

Jungkook, slowly and cautiously put his hand on my shoulder. It was comforting and something that I missed between the close friend relationship that Jungkook and I had.

"Noona."

"Yeah?"

"If I had asked you out first, would you have accepted my proposal?"

I was taken back by his question. I went back to when Jungkook and I met for the first time.

FLASHBACK - Third Person's POV

Jungkook had just reached the bus stop after rejecting the rides offered by his hyungs. He knew that his hyungs were somewhat tipsy as they had a pretty lit party not too long ago. Alcohol, music, and vomit in the occasional corner and on the bathroom floors. He admits, he was pretty tipsy too. What made him stable was the rain pouring down on him. He was going to catch a bus, expecting it to be pretty empty as it was around 4:00am. The streets were dead silent, apart form the rain being heard as each drop made sound while hitting the pavement.

He thought it would be the perfect time to listen to IU's new song Palette. (I know this song just released but it's just too good omg I'm in love with it). Her soft, soothing voice blended well with the background noise of the rain. Everything was calm until he was disturbed by another satisfying voice reaching his ears.
