I wipe my sweaty forehead again. The burning sun has been shining on me the whole day. I've tried to look up some shadow, but it's still bloody hot. I look up, glancing at shirtless Dark once again, watching him make a perfect campfire for the both of us. It feels like he's trying to show off on purpose, because his back is facing me the whole time. But when he glances over his shoulder with a seductive smirk, I quickly look back down and continue making the hammocks.

I hear his footsteps coming closer to me, but I keep on doing my thing. "Aren't you hungry?"  He asks politely, breathing an amused chuckle after. I look up at him, narrowing my eyes because of the bright sun, which he's standing right in front of. I nod, "yeah, actually" I admit. He reaches out his hand, "come on"  he tells me. I look at his hand, and want to take it but he quickly grabs my wrist, pulling me on my feet. I gasp softly. "What is this?!" Dark looks at my hand before roughly taking the other one too. "What is what?"  I ask confused before looking at my hand to see them having slightly bleeding scratches all over them. As I look at my hands, they start to sting, "ouch..." I whisper to myself. "Didn't you nice that yet?" He asks with an amused smirk. "I guess..." I say, still looking at my hands. "Come on, you can take a break" he tells me before walking to a nice spot in the shadow where he made a campfire with fish on a stick.

"You don't have to continue those hammocks today. They can wait" he tells me with a warm smile. I take another bite from my fish, not really liking the taste, but having no other choice. I shake my head, "no, I gotta finish at least one" I tell him, "I told you I was gonna make them, so I wanna finish them" I say strictly. Dark chuckles amused, making me look up at him with his finger hooked under my chin, "don't worry about it, we won't die if you finish them tomorrow. And besides that, the sun is about to set. Your time is up" he says with a grin. I chuckle and pull my head away from his hand, taking another bite from my fish, "yeah, you're right" I smile. "Oh....I'm always right" Dark smirks at me while pulling on his shirt again. I glance up at him, breathing a chuckle, "suuuure"

The sky has fiery colors as Dark makes a bed of leafs for me. I walk to the campfire with some more wood, watching him sit down next to it. I lay the stack of wood next to the fire and lay some on it before looking at Dark, "aren't there any animals here?" I ask him. Dark raises an eyebrow at me, "what are you trying to say...?" He asks blankly. "I mean....is it safe to sleep out in the open?" I ask again. Dark looks into the fire, as if thinking about it, "well...you never know..." I gulp, "what do you mean..." I sit a bit closer to the fire. "On this very island lives a family of bloodthirsty rabbits that look cute, but when they smell human flesh, they become TWICE their size, their eyes will glow red, and their teeth-" -- "Dark, shut up!! You're scaring me!" I say annoyed, "that's impossible!" I finally say, glancing at Dark to make sure it was indeed a joke. He shrugs, looking into the fire, pushing some wood in its place with a stuck, "you never know, (Y/N)" he tells me. I look at him for a while. He doesn't say my name often. He nor Wilford say my name many times, though there's something about that tone. It sends shivers down my spine, in either a good or a bad way. I simply flash a smile at him before laying down on my bed of leafs, and cover myself with an old blanket that Dark suddenly had for me. "tired?" Dark asks me. "yea" I simply reply, having my eyes closed already. "You should sleep, you've done a lot today. Your hands should be fine tomorrow, so you can continue, but only if you want to. No pressure" he talks to me. I listen to him, but I don't listen at his words, at his voice. He has such a soothing, smooth voice. It reminds me of Wilford's. I notice that Dark went quiet. "Goodnight, (Y/N)" he whispers to me before I hear him move around a bit.

I feel myself slowly drifting off into the dreamworld, but I suddenly hear a rustling sound behind me. I keep my eyes closed, but I'm wide awake. I gulp, hearing the noise again, but now in front of me. I think about the rabbits that Dark told me about. 'No...that can't be. That was a stupid story he made up...' I think to myself, pressing my eyes shut tighter as I hear the sounds behind me again. I open one eye, barely daring to look, but I see Dark sitting up and looking around. I lift my head slightly, "Dark...?" I whisper. He holds up one index finger, still looking the other way, signaling me that I should keep quiet. I sit up, and look around me, "did you hear it too?" I whisper, ignoring his sign telling me to be quiet. Dark nods and looks at me, "But it's quiet now" He says, as if telling me it's okay to go to sleep now. "I don't think I'll be able to sleep...can we move inside the cave? I feel safer there" I tell him. Dark nods, "Of course" He says, grabbing a piece of wood from the fire to lead us into the cave. "after you" he says with a warm smile after handing me a torch too. I smile back at him and quickly walk to the entrance of the cave. 'Nothing is there, you're safe with Dark, just walk down there and everything is okay' I think to myself over and over again. "wait!!" I hear Dark whisper yell behind me. I quickly turn around, "what?" I whisper back, my voice slightly shaking. "did you hear that?" He asks, looking to the side. I follow his gaze, "no..." I answer quietly. Dark looks at me, his gaze trailing down and up my body in half a second. He sighs, "You wait here...I'll be right back" He whispers before turning around and walking into the woods. "No...Dark....Dark!" I whisper, "Dark!" I say quietly, but he doesn't hear me anymore. I gulp, and just stand in my spot, uncomfortably long, waiting for Dark to return. I follow the light of his torch, seeing him walk around a bit. But then his light disappears behind something I can't make out in the dark. My whole body is shaking, and I'm beginning to feel quite cold as the goosebumps rise on my arms.

"(Y/N)!!" I hear Dark yell from a distant. My head shoots up, "(Y/N)!!" He yells again, but he's closer this time. His torch shows me his scared face, "RUN!!" he yells. I gulp, "wh-what!?" I feel adrenaline starting to pump through my veins, my breathing getting quicker, "IT'S THE RABBITS, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!" He arrives at the area where I am. I quickly start to run into the cave. Suddenly a stinging pain starts to form in my knee, where my wound is. I hiss in pain, but don't stop running. I quickly run into the cave, "will we be safe in there?" I ask, talking very quickly. "Yes, the rabbits can't jump as high" He explains. I quickly climb into the cave, feeling my heart beat in my chest, and my knee. "(Y/N)! They're here!!" Dark yells scared. I start to yell out of fear, "Please!! please don't let them kill me!!" I start to cry, "please!! please please, Dark, please!!" I yell scared, dropping my torch on the fireplace and burying my face in my hands. It's quiet and suddenly I hear Dar k starting to laugh. '..huh..!?' I look up, seeing Dark pointing at me while laughing his butt off, "Oh my god, your....your face!! Y-you actually believed me!" He says. My eyes widen, "It was a joke!?" I ask offended, "Are you kidding me!?" I lower my arms, letting them hang next to my body, "ohh p-priceless!" Dark keeps on laughing at me. I walk up to him in a fast pace, wanting to scare him, but he stays in his place. "Come on, it was just a-" Before he can finish his sentence, I smack him across the cheek, "There!" I say loud into his face. Dark growls, taking my wrist, "How DARE you smack me!?" The skin around his eyes becomes darker, "I give you protection, food and a place to stay and THAT is how you repay me!?" he growls at me. He is kind of right, "But that doesn't give you the right to scare the shit out of me!" I yank my wrist out of his grip. I sit down at the single stick in the fireplace, and put some more wood over it to make the fire bigger.

Dark sits down with a sigh, "You're right...I shouldn't do that again. It was a mean thing to do" he admits. "damn right" I mumble under my breath. Dark breathes a soft chuckle, making my head shoot his way. I glare at him as if saying 'don't you dare laughing again'. "Now go to sleep. There are no actual bloodthirsty rabbits. Your body must be tired" Dark explains. I look back at the fire with a sigh and nod, "yeah..." I want to lay down, but a pain shoots into my knee again, so I sit up, hissing. "what's wrong!?" Dark asks worried. "I think...." I pull off the bandage around the wound right under my knee, "I think my wound pulled open when I ran" I say, seeing some blood forming onto the wound again. "oh, I see....well I just have to get a clean bandage around it, but that's all" Dark explains. I smile at him, "thank you" I tell him. He looks up at me with a smile. "for caring for me and everything". Dark shakes his head slightly, "No problem. It's an honor to serve a fine lady such as you" he mimics Wilford's voice. It's exactly alike. I laugh at him, "perfect impression, ten out of ten!" I clap for him. Dark stands up, bowing for me before grabbing something new to wrap around my leg.
