I walk onto the beach, finishing my day alone, swimming in the sea. For a moment, it was like I was back at home, just swimming at the beach on a sunny day. I flip my wet, salty hair back, and walk over to the trees, my wet feet covered in sand. I look around for Dark, not seeing him anywhere. He's not in his spot where he was making food before. I shrug, thinking he's probably in the cave making a fire or something. I decide to hang up the hammock on a spot where we can hang up two and make a campfire by it too. "Here's a nice spot" I say to myself.
"Talking to yourself already?" I hear Dark's smooth voice behind me. I gasp softly and turn around, "Dark, you scared me!" I say with a half smile on my face. Dark breathes a chuckle, but still has a blank face, "took a swim, I see?" He asks blankly. I look down at my wet clothes, and nod, "heh, yeah...it was nice and cool" I explain. Dark nods slowly in response, "good for you" He flashes a smile at me, but it looks fake. I smile back at him, "it was!" I tell him. He nods again, "are you going to sleep here?" He asks. I look at the hammock I just put in its place. "it's okay" he says before I can answer. I notice his hands have bandages wrapped around the knuckles. I smile up at him, "yeah, I'm sleeping here" I tell him. He nods, "I'll just...go grab your stuff" he tells me before he turns around and walks back to where he came from. 'where did HE come from...?' I ask myself, wanting to ask him.
A little while later, Dark comes back with a wooden bowl. Some steam comes out of it, "what's that?" I ask Dark. He looks down, "What?" He asks me. "In the bowl" I ask. Dark lays down the blanket in the hammock that he had in his other hand. "Crab, with some fruit" He explains, handing it to me. I nod, "Thank you" I say with a warm smile. He smiles unsure at me, "goodnight" he says before walking away. "wait!" I say, making him stop in his tracks and turn around. "Aren't you...staying?" I ask shyly, "I need fire" I quickly say after. Dark breathes a chuckle, "If you want company, you join me in the cave. And can't you make a fire yourself?" He asks me. I think for a moment. "Of course, I can! Do you think I'm stupid!?" I say with my eyebrows lowered. Dark smirks and chuckles amused, "Still not sure. You're either stupid, or very stubborn" he says before walking on, to the cave. I watch him walk away before I look down into the bowl. The crab doesn't smell good. But then again, I never had it, so it could taste nice. Or very disgusting. I sigh and sit down in the hammock, looking at the sun set for a while, watching the sky change colors very slowly. I decide to just start my meal. I keep the fruit for last. The best for last they say. I take a piece of the meat between my thumb and index finger, and look at it for a while. "ugh..." I grunt softly out of disgust. I take a deep breath, and just put it in my mouth. I start to chew, wanting it out of my mouth as fast as possible. I quickly swallow, and then I realize it wasn't even that bad. Just the idea of crab in my mouth is not so nice. I take another small piece, and start to eat it, enjoying it a bit more, though there's not much taste to it anyway. I swallow it, and finally take the fruit. It's good enough for now. When I finish my simple dinner, unfold the blanket. The sky still has a slight shade of red, but the rest is dark blue, almost black. I lay down, already seeing some starts shining between the trees.
I get a little cold, and that makes me unable to sleep. I decide to try to make a fire, which I've never done before. I grab more material that Dark used earlier today. There's not much wind, so I should be able to do it. The moon shines brightly, so I have just enough light to see what I need to see. I lay the materials down next to my hammock, and start to make the fire.
Or at least...I try.
Suddenly a light appears behind me. I turn around, and see Dark standing there with a torch, "need a little help there, blood-scratch?" he asks, chuckling amused. I sigh annoyed, "No! I'm fine!" I snap at him, "leave me alone" I command, but with that, he only steps closer. "you're doing it the wrong way" He tells me. I sigh again, "I said, I'm fine" I say blankly again, not glancing over my shoulder to look at him. "Alrighty then, moody-princess, I'll leave you to it" He says before walking back to the cave. I don't look behind me, but I wait until the light is fully gone, disappeared around the corner, and into the cave. I take a deep breath before trying over and over again to make a fire. Goosebumps are forming all over my upper body. A cool, no, cold breeze strokes my neck, making me rub my arms.
Dark's POV
I look into the fire, putting another berry in my mouth. I wonder how (Y/N) is doing. The poor kid is probably very cold, not knowing how to make a fire. I'm being snapped out of my thoughts by bare feet walking down the stairs and stopping close to me. I look up and a smile forms on my lips, "did you make a fire yet, blood-scratch?" I ask teasingly.
(Y/N)'s POV
I sigh in defeat, "I can't..." I finally admit. Dark nods once at me, "Please, take a seat, you must be tired" He says sweetly. I do as he says. I sit down, but close to him, wanting him to hug me and make me warm. I watch the fire dance and give me goosebumps as I become warmer again. "Stubborn" Dark suddenly says out of the blue. "hm?" I look up at him. "I was wondering if you were stupid or just very stubborn...but I think I got my answer" He says playfully, chuckling amused after. I breathe a soft chuckle and can't help but smile and wrap my arms around his torso. I have my eyes closed, but Dark seems surprised by my sudden hugging, because it takes him a while before he finally hugs me back. He rubs my back gently. "I'm sorry I was so stupid today" I tell him, burying my face into his chest. Dark chuckles softly, making me feel slight vibrations in his chest. "No, you were stubborn. But I forgive you. I can understand this is all new for you, and you don't really understand" He explains. I nod and hug him tighter, "I can't tell you how glad I am to be here with you" I tell him. Dark chuckles, and gently pushes me off, "It's fine, you don't have to tell me. You're thanking me enough by giving me company on this god forsaken island" He says. I chuckle. "Now, go to sleep, blood-scratch" he commands with a sweet smile as he lays down on his side. I sit in front of his legs, so I just lay down on my side too, making my back lay against his chest. I roll onto my back, and look up at him, staring into his eyes. Dark looks back down at me, and glances at my lips for a moment before looking back up at my eyes. He rests his head on his palm and smiles down at me, telling me I can lay here. I don't look away from his brown eyes, "Dark, I-" He cuts me off by pressing his lips on mine. I kiss back, lifting his head a little higher. He cups my cheek, and I lay my hand on his shoulder. I lay my head back on the ground, breaking away from the kiss. We both gaze in each other's eyes before I give him another kiss, but this time a quick peck on the lips. I smile slightly, "goodnight" I finally say softly. Dark breathes a chuckle, "goodnight" he trails his hand down and rests it on my waist. I roll to my side again, my back facing him. And finally, we both fall asleep.
