"Next left."

"You're positive?"

"Ninety-nine percent."

"What about the other one percent?"

"Wandering up the road on the right."

"You're joking, right?"

"Not in the slightest."

"You are a great bag of dicks. You know that?"

"I do now."

Dan and I laughed allowed as I turned left on the three way road, heading to what was supposed to be the place I was being held. I was certainly not looking forward to the experience that would inevitably lie ahead, and I was even less thrilled to be getting Dan involved into all of this. He didn't need to be here, he just wanted to be. Of course I was grateful for his willingness to help me out, but I was terrified that I would get him hurt... Or worse. Killed.

"Are you sure you wanna do this?"

Dan turned to me from gazing out the window, watching the trees tumble past in the low moon light.

"Of course. But you're worried about me. You think that if I get hurt, it will be on you. It won't be, and I won't be hurt, and neither will you or Wade."

I nodded and smiled.

"Alright then." I parked the car outside a large open gate, "You ready?"

Dan and I opened the doors of the Jeep and cautiously walked towards the gates, cautious and curious to why they were wide open.

"Were they open before?"

"No idea, I've only ever been conscious on the inside."

"Fair'o."

Dan took a quick glance around trying to see anyone or thing moving. He went to take another step forwards but I grabbed his shoulder pulling him back.

"What are you doing?" he asked, stumbling to keep his balance.

I bent down and picked up a stick from the ground, jabbing it into the pile of leaves and watched Dan jump backwards further as a bear trap jolted into its locked position.

"Oh, thanks."

I nodded and moved around the areas that I recognised as containing the traps. Moving further towards the front entrance, which, like the gates, were open.

"I don't like this. They must be expecting us," Dan said, peering through the darkness of the room inside the doorway. I could just make out a blinking light at the back of the room.

"Not us, me. There's a camera at the end of the room, in the left corner. They're watching us now, they are probably surprised that I didn't come alone, they will be altering their plans right now towards whatever they've prepared for me. If we go in here now, there is a very good chance that we won't come back out, so this is your last chance Daniel. Do you want to leave Phil alone? Or do you want to risk your life doing something only I am stupid enough to do?"

"What are the odds? If you had to guess."

"I'd say we'd have a ninety-nine percent chance of dying tonight."

"And the other one percent?"

I turned to him and smiled slightly.

"Wandered up the road on the right."

Dan and I walk through the door, having it slam closed behind us, and two people walked out in front of us, having the lights flicker on.
