"Look, I'll be home in a week or so. I love you, don't tear my house down, okay?", I said to Edward. Since Corey and I were going on 'vacation', I was letting Edward stay at my house so he didn't have to stay with my mom and dad.

"Ok, ok. I got it. No party....no mess from a party. No illegal stuff. I got it. Anything else?", Edward asked.

"Yes. If you need me...call this number.", I said writing down the phone number for the Starry Night Inn.

"I got it."

"Oh!", I began, "and NO HEATHER, I don't want that thing in my house", I said, half joking and half not.

"Ok, ok, SJ. Would you please go have fun?", Edward said laughing.

Edward walked me outside, Corey was waiting and talking to his mom in the phone booth. I threw what little I packed (which was a lot) in the trunk.

"Okay mom. Love you too.", Corey said before hanging up. I love a boy who loves his mama.

"Take good care of her, huh.", Edward told Corey. I giggled a little, because I love how protective people can be, no matter how annoying it may get.

"Dontcha worry, man. I'll make sure she doesn't get into any trouble...well she might be the one keeping me out of trouble. But the princess will be taken care of.", Corey said, leaning on the car with Edward standing in front of him.

"Ok. See ya later, man", Edward said pulling Corey into one of those guy hugs.

"Bye, see ya", Corey called before joining me in the car. He started the thing and we drove off.

...
Crossing into Lubbock, Texas, the home of TownsVille, Corey yelled.

"The engines on fire!"

He stopped abruptly and we hurried out of the car. I got our stuff out of the back and Corey opened the hood, adding oxygen to the fire and making it worse.

There was nothing we could do. We stood on the side of the street, in the pitch black, the car glowed. "Here we go again", I whispered to myself.

"Seriously? Why has everything been 1 thing after another? Why can't we have peace?", Corey asked starting to pace.

"Corey, calm down."

"No! I won't calm down. Why can't we be happy for a day, even a day or so? What did we ever do? I mean honestly! Why have things changed?", he began to grow louder.

"Corey, you're scaring me", I said, but it came out so low, I wondered it I ever said it

"Sarah Jane, I don't get it! Ever since those--those--t--those people came, your family, nothing's been normal.", he yelled.

"Lower your voice!", I yelled, "I'm not deaf. I can hear you. And I understand.", I said. Corey nodded.

"I'm sorry, it's just...been...a lot", he said.

"I know. Makes me miss being 15 and when all of us got together and did something stupid or whatever. But I promise, it won't be like this for long.", I said, "Its a side effect of growing up. But, hey, things are gonna get better, normalize, and I'll still love you.", I assured him.

He smiled at him, pulled me in and the moment was interrupted by a pair of headlights.

"Who's that?", Corey asked.

The pick-up came to a stop, the fire still buring, and they got out.

I could tell who it was in a instant.
"Otis!", I said.

Otis had helped me and Corey some time back, and we'd exchanged letters since then.

"Sarah Jane! Corey!", he said. "C'mon, let's get outta here!", he said. We didn't waste time at all. We threw our things in the back, and sat inside. The flames didn't die, but got worse.

"Let me drop you off, then we'll come back for...that.", Otis said. I nodded.

...
We settled into the Starry Night Inn, a place we'd been before. Very homey and sweet, it was comforting. Ironically, we got the same room we'd stayed in the first time around.

"I can't believe that happened. I mean really, that stuff only happens in the movies.", Corey said, talking about the fire. I took a look at myself in the mirror as Corey talked, but I wasn't listening. My hair smelled like smoke, my face was somewhat stained from the smoke. Corey looked no better, maybe even worse.

"Yeah", I agreed to wherever he'd said.

"I'm gonna shower", I said. "Ok", Corey agreed.

I grabbed clothes, towel and started the water. I closed the door and undressed and stepped into the shower, under the warm water.

After a good 20 or so minutes, I got out and towel dried my hair and dressed. I threw the laundry in a hamper and came back out. Corey was watching 'Threes Company', his favorite.

"Checkin' out Chrissy?", I joked.

Corey's face became serious.
"SJ?", he asked.

"Mmhmm"

"You don't think...Heather could have...done something to the car?", he asked.

I sighed. "Wouldn't put it past her. Did I ever tell you what Lucky told me?", I asked.

"No, tell me.", he said sitting straight up.

"He told me Heather was "bringing a storm" and she was after us...well, after you, I mean. And her father was in on it.", I informed.

"Well that's evil.", Corey said, making me laugh for some reason.

...
3 days later
Corey put a yellow rose in my hair as we walked back into our room. It was 7:30pm.

"I'm just saying, if you don't want your mom to have the hots for you, then do not go back in time.", Corey said.

"Yeah? But how was Marty supposed to know?", I argued with a light laugh. We'd been talking about Back To The Future, a trilogy I had starred in.

The phone rang and Corey got it.
"Mr. Haim and Future Mrs. Haim", Corey said. I giggled.

Corey handed it to me, "its for you."

"Hello?"
