Chapter10

I fade in and out. One thing I'm in Jaime's lap, then I hear them yelling and arguing. Why are they fighting? I'm okay, aren't I? I feel like falling asleep. I start to close my eyes and Tony taps my cheek. "Jaime, keep her awake! She can't go to sleep. Destiny? Are you there? Stay awake for me, please don't fall asleep." he says in panic. I slightly look up and I see Jaime staring back, making sure my eyes are open. I just want t sleep, let me sleep. I begin to close my eyes and Jaime shakes me. But it doesn't work. He taps my cheeks and my eyes stay closed. "No no no no no, Destiny. Destiny? DESTINY!" he shouts. Vic is driving and Mike turns along with Tony. They look at Jaime and Mike climbs to the back seat. I hear them but I can't respond. What is happening to me. Vic looks in the rearview mirror and sees what's happening. Vic shouts, "Guys we are almost there. Just hold her until we get there. Do whatever you have to do to keep her up." "Babe we can't, she already crashed. I can't even get her eyes to flutter." Mike says. Vic curses under his breath and he accelerates. I want to tell everyone that I'm okay, that they don't have to go out of there way for me. I mean why are they even doing this? I just met them.

I get lifted up and I'm shaking a lot. I hear pattering footsteps and I realize that Jaime's running. I hear automatic doors running and everybody calling for help. "HELP SOMEBODY PLEASE! WE HAVE A FRIEND THAT'S DRUGGED!" Mike says. Vic is helping Mike and is shouting for help. Jaime adds, "MY GIRLFRIEND NEEDS HELP! SOMEBODY PLEASE WE NEED HELP!" Did he just call me his girlfriend? I feel like I'm smiling but I'm not moving. Tony helps Jaime carry me because he starts to panic. Footsteps rush to us and I hear wheels. I get more hands grabbing me and I'm surrounded by more blankets and a pillow. I feel the bed start to move and I hear a male voice speak. "Do you know what she took?" he asks. "Um, I don't know, I turn around and she's gone." Jaime says frantically. "Okay, Gen. Get me an IV drip started and a check up. Joshua, get a blood test running and a urine sample when she comes back. After we get the results, I will go over the results and go from there. Everyone go." And I hear footsteps running off. Silence comes after and I'm being rushed to a room. I feel a tightening on my arm and the other grow cold. The IV and the blood pressure is being done. People come and people leave, then it's completely still.

JAIME'S POV

The guys and I are becoming restless. As we sit our legs begin to shake. Finally people in white coats come our way. "For Miss. Acuna?" and we all rise. The male doctor begins to speak. "We don't need to do a urine test because the blood test gave away the drug. For know it's and unknown substance, but by the looks of it, you guys brought her in time. If you were any later, she would've had cyanosis." he explains. "Um, what's cyanosis? No offense, but can you please speak English?" I say impatiently. "Oh right, right. I forget sometimes. Her respiratory system would've failed and she would turn blue from suffocation." I nod in understanding. "For right now, she will be okay. For right now, only one visitor at a time. She can become overwhelmed."  he says. "She's awake?!" I ask in surprise and happiness. "No, not yet. But she can still become mentally overwhelmed and go into shock." he replies. I nod and look around. The guys are looking at me to go up. I smile and look down. "She's in room C156. You guys can come up anytime, but remember, only one at a time." and he turns to leave with other doctors trailing behind him. I start to head up for the room. I get in an elevator and press level C.  After a few minutes, I get there and practically run to her room. I knock twice and open the door.

My heart stops beating as I look at her beautiful, peaceful face. Although she's in the hospital and hooked up to scary wires and tubes, I suddenly remember why she's so important to me. I rush to her side She's in here because of me. I should've just listened to what I told her parents and do something cute together, rather than go to that stupid party. That girl is going to pay, I will make sure of it. I start to breathe heavily out of anger. I feel so stupid! What am I going to tell her parents and her cousins? Hey I turned away from your daughter and now she's passed out in the hospital and got raped. They will never trust me and let her see her again. If that came true, I couldn't live with myself. I wouldn't live with myself. As I get carried away into my thoughts, I hear a sharp gasp and I see here awake. I forgot she has no idea where she's at. She has wide eyes and is breathing heavily. I move up and hug her with my everything. I feel a fragile hand cup my face and I hear her say, "And you really want to start dating in a hospital?" I say with a smile. "I won't even think about it if I'm with you. You make everything perfect." she says. I smile and it disappears. She starts to frown. "Hey, look at me." and her cold hand moves under my chin. I look at her. "What happened isn't your fault. I actually had a great time. I never went to a party before and by the way, we murdered that dancefloor." she says with a smile. I laugh. "Yeah we did." I add. "I mean c'mon. Did you see Tony and Oliver? They tore down the whole 1st floor." she says laughing. We get lost in memories of what happened and make comments about people. We end up crying from laughing so hard. I look out the window and see the guys standing there and staring at us with smiles on their faces. I laugh and shake my head and they come inside. Even though it's one person allowed, we don't care. The nurse comes in and does a check up, she doesn't care either. She says, "Well what do you know! She's made remarkable progress! At this rate Destiny, you will be out of here tomorrow morning." and leaves with a smile. I look at everyone and they shout and laugh at the good news. And yet she puts me on blast. "Jaime?" she asks in an innocent voice. "Yes?" I reply. "Will you come and lay down with me? I'm tired." she says. Everyone says "Ooooooo!" and leaves the room. I smile and say, "Yes. Of course I will. And I will never leave you either." I come to her side and lay down with her. I wrap my arms around her and she puts her hands to her chest and cuddles into mine. She smiles and looks up at me. I look down at her. She kisses my cheek and says "I like you a lot. And just to let you know, I would love to be your girlfriend." And before I get to respond, I hear little snores coming from her rose-red lips. I can't help myself but kiss her. Too bad she won't know I did it though.
