We’re back at the dojo after leisure-ring at Chanyeol’s cafe.

“Let’s learn something from Tao. We don’t have anything to do after this right?” Nana clapped her hand and let out a delighted noise.

“Yay! He usually likes to go to the practice area out front. If we go now, we can probably snatch a good spot” she chuckled.

“Is there usually a crowd to watch some guy practice?” I asked.

Hyori gave me a somewhat bemused look. “Tao isn’t just SOME guy. He’s a two-time MMA champion in his weight class. He placed seven times in the international Taekwondo trials. He’s been in several movies and even some K-dramas that had heavy fighting.”

“there’s even a rumor that he’d up for an international apprenticeship with a master. Watching him in a chance to see and expert in action!” Nana stated with a proud face.

“Granted, it helps that you have a giant crush on him.” Hyori continued with a smirk.

“I don’t have a crush on him, I just get googly eyed around success.” Nana defended herself.

“I don’t know, it sounds pretty crush like to me.” I teased Nana.

“Thank you, see, I rest my case.” Hyori supports.

“You guys just don’t understand the complexities of my mind!” Nana defended herself and sulked.

“I’d hate to interrupt what I’m sure is a constructive conversation but would one of you brave ladies like to be my stand in? I need someone to hold a flower and my normal practice partner isn’t here” Tao joined the conversation.

“That’s all you need? Someone to hold a flower?” I asked.

“and not flinch. That’s actually the important part.” he then continued.

“There’ll be a lot of... Movement.” Immediately my two almost friends pointed to me.

“Well, I guess I’ve been volunteered.” I said sarcastically wile looking at them.

“It seems you have.” Tao continued with a chuckled.

*Courtyard*

I followed him to the courtyard and when we reached the center. He pulled a red tulip from a basket he had set aside.

“Hyaka, do you know what Hanakotoba is?” he asked me.

“Um.. A very fancy name for a tulip in Japanese?” I replied.

“Not quite, it’s the language of flowers and understanding their meaning.” he replied then I nodded back.

“Red tulip means fame here. For the first half of my demo, I’ll be struggling to get to this flower. Many things will try to stop me, but my desire for fame will force me to keep trying. Then, I get the flower or fame as it were and struggle to keep it. I fight so hard it ends up being my undoing.”

I was aware that I was nodding only slightly but his idea fascinated me. The very thought that he could convey a whole story line. I thought it was just going to be a bunch of punching and kicking. The man was surely more than meet the eyes, but my eyes weren’t complaining about how cute he was.

I nodded, blushing slightly for some reason. Maybe it was the serious, but earnest look in his eyes. Maybe it was his close proximity. When was the last time I was on a date? I think it was back when I went to a dance in high school. Soccer had been my goal and life for so long. I couldn’t remember ever taking time for something like a social life.
