Consciousness pricked at me, pushing away the last bits of my dream. I sat bolt upright up in bed. This was it, the big day was finally here!

I threw my covers off and went about getting dressed. I was so excited, my hands were shaking, but I managed to get decent not too much later. I bolted out of my room and then our door, my mother calling after me, “Have a nice day! Tell your friends I said hello!”

“Will do!” I said as I waved at me mom. It had been a little over a month since the town Pot Luck, and today was an important day indeed.

It was the cafe’s birthday, and it’s first since I’d moved to town, so I was helping Nana set up. At first I had assumed that Chanyeol would be the one arranging the details. But Hyori had insisted on the pampering him for the day, since he worked so hard. That meant she was taking both Tao and Chanyeol to the movies, and other stuff what were super fun. But I wasn’t miffed that I was missing the part.

I was too excited to make something really special for my friends. I ran up to the door, and jiggled the handle to see it was unlocked. I let myself in, and sure enough Nana was knee-deep in a giant bin of decorations.

“There you are! You’re early.” Nana greeted me. “Yeah, but I know you would be too.” I giggled. “You know me so well.” she said back. “I’m sure my agent won’t be thrilled at me missing beauty sleep but this is a big deal.” she paused then continued “Last year Hyori catches a flu and I was in Paris, so we couldn’t celebrate. Tao and Chanyeol celebrates themselves until they’re drunk.”

I giggled at the thought of theatrical Chanyeol and always poised Tao drunk off their butts.

“You know, I’ve never seen either of them drink.” I giggled.

“When would thy have time for it?” she pointed to me.

“Good point.” I replied with a small laugh.

“I’m so happy you guys included me in this. It means a lot.” I thanked her.

“Of course. Why wouldn’t we include the girl they’re madly in love with?” she then laughed.

My spine snapped straight and I felt my face flash crimson.

“W-w-w-w-w-why would you say that??” I stuttered.

“Because it’s true. Duh.” she said with a wink.

My eyes almost crossed from the mood whiplash. Nana suddenly asked me to bake a cake. It was clear that Nana was changing the topic. Oh well, that was fine. I didn’t want to think about relationships right now anyways.

Because choosing one most likely meant I would hurt the other. And that’s the last thing I wanted to do.

I headed to the kitchen and made my way to the fridge. I was somewhat intimidated as is opened the shiny metal doors. But relief flooded me when I already saw a beautiful cake sitting there. Of course, there was a note attached to the platter, so I read it

*Notes*
“I know Nana wants us to relax, but I couldn’t cook a cake for my baby. Tell her you made it”
xoxo, Channie

I snorted. There was no way she would believe that, but it still cute. I pulled it out and set it on the counter to warm then went back to help Nana.
As soon as she saw me, her eyes narrowed, “He bake a cake didn’t he?” Nana asked me.

“Yup.” I chuckled.

”I suppose that’s to be expected. He does love to bake, so I guess it doesn’t ruin our plan of them relaxing.” she continued.

“I don’t think either he or Tao know the meaning of that word.” I let out a small laugh. We both shook our heads in amusement, then got to work.

Thankfully, Nana was more than willing to climb the ladder to hang things up. Although my balance was much improved, I wasn’t really comfortable high up. It still felt too easy to fall. Despite my unwillingness to go a foot off the floor we got the place decorated up pretty nicely.

There were streamers, balloons, tea, place sets for the five of us and of course the cake. It turned out not a moment too soon. Less than five minutes later, Hyori texted us that they were on their way.

“Looks like it’s go time!” cheered Nana. I gave her a look and she managed to keep a blank smile on for almost a full minute but she cracked and we both cackled with laughter.

And to think, I never would have met this girl if it weren’t for my injury..
I didn’t get too long to dwell on that as the door chimed, the rest of our crew were walking in.

The boys looked sharp and I couldn’t help but swoon a bit at how handsome they were. I bit my inside cheek fighting the blush.
