I snacked as we walked to the town court. Normally it was all about public transportation, but it was a short stroll.
Hyori hadn’t had time to chitchat since last yoga class and chitchat we did. Her boyfriend tried to win her back, but she’s staying strong. She deserved someone who didn’t try to screw around her life and I was pretty proud of her.
By the time we reached the Pot Luck, we had gone from boyfriend, to taxes and to cartoons. They had set up several tents, where local restaurants seemed to have booths. There was a game of horseshoes, a sack race and what I assumed was the area for yoga.
“Hyaka!” I turned to see Chanyeol barreling towards me, a whisk in one hand and flour covering his apron.
“You made it! For a while there I thought maybe you were going full hermit on me.” he teased.
“Hyaka! Hyori!” now my head went to the other direction, and I saw Tao happily jogging towards us.
“Hey Chanyeol! I see you finally managed to tear yourself away from your booth.” Tao greeted Chanyeol.
“Yeah, I got about five minutes before my funnel batter burns.” he laughed.
“Well I wouldn’t want to keep you then.” Tao replied back.
“I was just here to ask Hyaka for some help with put free sessions today.” Tao stated.
“Sorry bro, I’m afraid I got her first. I definitely could use the help with desserts.” Chanyeol bickered.
I gave them both a sheepish look. “Uhh guys..... I was reading a really good book, so I wasn’t paying attention to my phone. I don’t know which one of you messaged me first.”
“Huh...This is a conundrum, I guess.” Tao said.
”I know! How about we fight to the death, old school style.” Chanyeol suggested to Tao. Tao playfully joshed Chanyeol’s massive bicep.
“Be careful, just because you’re my best friends, doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t cream you.” Tao teased back.
“So you’ve got some fancy moves, but don’t assume you’re going to come on top.” Chanyeol winked at me.
“Its not an assumption. Trust me.” Tao replied back.
“Is that so now?” Chanyeol gave out a challenging face.
Before I knew what was happening, Chanyeol picked Tao up. Like a high schooler playing with his brother, he swung the thinner man around. Then Tao squirmed out of his grip and spun around in a low kick that knocked Chanyeol down.
“Um... Is this normal?” I half whispered to Hyori.
“Kinda. The last time they did this, they were arguing about who got to pay the dinner bill. You should probably break this up before someone misinterprets though” said Hyori before she continued, “Wouldn’t want the local populace to think this is a real fight.” I just nodded in agreement.
“Hey Chanyeol! I’m going to help you make desserts.” I screamed to them to make them stop fighting.
The two boys stopped suddenly, which made it pretty hard not to laugh. Chanyeol rolled off his smaller friend.
“Really? You’re down with flour and sugar?” he asked me with an odd look.
“All day long, my friend.” I said.
“Okay Tao, I guess I’m going to be your right hand lady today.” Hyori came to us.
“Thank you Hyori. And Chanyeol, don’t think this is over.” Tao said to Chanyeol with challenging eyes and continued, ”Next meal, I’m getting the bill.”
