This is the concluding story of the Brother of Clementine (Re-written) saga. Be sure to read the previous stories first!
"There there AJ." Clementine said silently. The sick and dying child lied in her arms. Dark circles around his eyes. Pale skinned. Bloodshot eyes. A tear of Clementine's slipped off of her cheek. "I'm so sorry." She said and brought him into a hug. "Clementine." Jake Jones, Clementine's older brother, said calmly. Clementine looked at him with a saddened look. Jake looked at her with a heavy frown on his face.
"What do we do?" She asked him. "We ain't lettin' 'em turn." Jake said and pulled out his gun. "Jake, no! He can get better." "Look at 'em, Clem." Jake said, gesturing to the child in his sisters arms. "We tried everything we could." He said. Clementine looked back down at AJ. "Remember Jane?" Clementine questioned. "You killed her because you thought she killed him. Why'd you fight so hard for him then, but just giving up on him now?" Clementine asked. A cold glare forming on her face. Jake glared back. "Cause that's when he..." "When he what!?" Clementine demanded. "When he had a fuckin' chance!" Jake said loudly, scowling at his sister.
Clementine looked back at the child. His chest moving up and down in a slow rhythm. "Unless..." Jake said. Clementine looked at him. "Unless you wanna hold 'em... 'till he..." Jake said, a frown forming on his face. Clementine nodded. "Please..." She muttered. Jake nodded and stepped out of the room. As Clementine watched her brother leave, she felt AJ's small fingers wrap around her pointing finger. She looked back at him and smiled sadly. "I love you, little goofball." Clementine said tearfully. AJ's eyes slowly started to close. Then... he passed in Clementine's arms.
Clementine hugged AJ tightly. She stood up, still holding AJ in a tight hug, and walked out. She glanced at Jake. He looked back at her. Clementine placed AJ on the couch and nodded. "Do what you have to do." Clementine told him. Jake nodded back and pulled out his gun. Clementine looked at AJ for one last time and walked back to the room she was just in. "I'm sorry, Clem." She heard Jake say behind her. But she didn't bother to look back.
Then the gunshot echoed through the house.
============
Clementine shot out of her sleep. "AJ." She muttered and buried her face into her hands. It was a lot on Clementine at the time. She was only 13 years old. Now, three years later, she still misses him. AJ's gone. And now, her brother was gone to.
A faint knock echoed through the door. "Come in." Clementine muttered. Her best and close friend, Abigail Smith, came into the room. "Ya feelin' alright?" Abigail asked as she sat beside Clementine. "Yeah. Just a bad dream about AJ." Clementine told her. "The boy you and Jake was with?" Abigail asked. Clementine nodded her head. Abigail rubbed Clementine's back. "You still miss 'em, don'tcha?" Abigail said to her. "A lot. Maybe more than I should." Clementine said. "I don't blame ya, Clem. He seemed like a sweet kid." Abigail replied. "I just miss him so much." Clementine whimpered and placed her face into her hands. "I know." Abigail said and placed her hand on Clementine's shoulder, giving it a light squeeze.
"I'm here if ya need to talk." Abigail said to her. "We don't even havta talk. We can just sit here." She added. A weak but visible smile grew on Clementine's face. "Yeah. I'd like that. Thanks, Abigail." Clementine said. Abigail smiled at her and said, "No problem." The two friends hugged each other.
