How To Develop Future Potential and Personal Genius
Chapter 8: Personal GeniusOn a planet of 7 billion people and 28+billion animals plus countless trees and green brush, natural resources have reached their limits. We are in need of new ways of conserving our energy and expanding our access into energy sources uncommon here on earth and the far reaches of space. Many conservatories and university research teams are scurrying about, following trails of discovery which are bread crumbs leading up to major breakthrough. However, political pressures, limited funding and lack of interest is capping our collective potential to grow.
In the past, whenever mankind has had a need to develop its ability to survive in various environments and to discover the physical and spiritual mysteries untwined in the world we live, an individual had risen to the occasion. The universe enlightened a man or woman with its intelligence, it's know-how. From the likes of such individuals, mankind has discovered everything from fire to manned space flight. One such individual is Albert Einstein, his theory of relativity is central to many technologies we use today such as GPS.
Albert Einstein is someone we would label a Genius: One with an exceptional intellectual, creative power or other natural ability. While this stands true, there is an inherent crippling affect of labeling an Albert Einstein or Bill Gates genius. We inadvertently label ourselves less than genius in comparison to their great achievements. For many of us, this takes place subconsciously. We would never verbalize that notion of being limited intellectually, but other statements we proclaim betray us. For instance, have you ever found yourself saying "I don't know" or "Man, that looks hard"? Or maybe, "I wish I had her or his talent". This is equivalent to a husband paying constant compliments to another man's wife as his wife dejectedly looks on in silence. We are all Genius and it resides in us in silence while we compliment and stand in awe of another's genius.
In the Holy Bible lies a story about Jesus the Messiah on a small ship with his 12 disciples and the ship was in the middle of a terrible storm. A few of the disciples were seamen and understood the strength of powerful storms. While they struggled to keep the ship afloat, Jesus was asleep on a pillow in the berth of the ship. His disciples were deeply concerned about this storm, but more importantly, they were frustrated that Jesus was asleep, "obviously" unconcerned with their predicament. After having toiled for some considerable time, they went down and woke Jesus saying, "Master, don't you care that we perish?" Jesus awoke, somewhat upset that he was disturbed. He climbed up to the deck of the ship, extended his hands towards the winds and waves and spoke to them and they became calm. He then turned to his disciples and said, "Why do you have such small faith?" Now, he was not questioning their faith in him, they woke him up because of their belief in him as the son of God. No, he questioned their lack of faith in themselves. You see, the very first discipline of Personal Genius is knowing that you are a genius. You have the intelligence of the Universe residing inside of you; uncommon, unbridled, powerful knowing of the Universe.
This "Knowing" is very specific, very detailed as to the intention and purpose of its designation in you, which leads to the second discipline of Personal Genius, and that is to know your place of Knowing.
One may appear ignorant or unintelligent simply because one is out of place, in someone else's place of genius, someone else's lane of expertise. Watching LeBron James play basketball does not give you that genius, listening to Adele sing ballads doesn't give you the ability. A fish appears dumb and unintelligent if laid on your front lawn. It loses its ability to move effectively and it is vulnerable to attack by any other creature with a taste for fish. But when you place that same fish in a stream, immediately its genius is recognized as it zips away, fins and gills in full operation. You too have a very special area where your genius is unrivaled. Just like a signature or a fingerprint, it is "personal".
Part 2 of Personal Genius will deal with how to determine what your area of Genius is and the nucleus of Genius, what it actually is. See you soon!
