Chapter 11: The Emergence of US

The Oxford Living Dictionary defines emergence as "the process of becoming visible after being concealed" or "the process of coming into existence or prominence ". In the scientific community, emergence is described as the connectivity of a number of uncomplicated parts bringing about the existence of a more complex component more meaningful and or useful than any of the parts individually. For this book we will describe it as the process of a bunch of dumb, blind and deaf things coming together to create one smart thing with vision, hearing and an ability to communicate.

An example of emergence is an ant colony. It is comprised of fairly simple ants which, individually, lack an understanding of organization and community. But, when a queen ant is introduced, instincts kick in and an ant will begin to perform rudimentary tasks which in concert with others, produce food finding expeditions, complex tunneling and even nannies to watch over the queen's eggs.
Another form of emergence is the neurons of the brain. An individual neuron is pretty dumb, simply transmitting electrical pulsation within its network of fellow neurons. However, those billions of neurons communicating together the simple language of electricity, produce a highly thinking thing called the brain. From the brain, we get highly cognitive responses which lead to Beethoven, Shakespeare and Michael Jackson.
This book is called 'How To Develop Future Potential and Personal Genius' so we will delve into the mind and the human experience and how emergence plays a role in man's Future Potential.

Firstly, why does mankind need to emerge?Amidst its greatest achievements is there a need for greater accomplishment? My answer to that is everything you see today is a result of yesterday's emergence, yesterday's emergency. A need arises and the answer emerges. A need for transportation provokes the emergence of the car, plane and rocket ship. A need for community organization provokes the emergence of government. Emergence is an article of the universe and it appears wherever there is pressure for it to come into existence. Now, individually we strive to better our life and to feel fulfilled, accomplishing our dreams. But, in order for mankind to emerge in ways that's beneficial for the whole race, more of 'US' need to achieve these goals. Many of 'US' never attain any sustainable degree of success because of something that plagues 'US' all. It's offense. The emotional feeling of being offended cripples our ability to connect and communicate, which drives innovation and creativity. Although there are sectors in society which are seemingly impervious to the ails of human offense and conflict, such as computer technology, medical and pharmaceutical research, even entertainment. Most people in their everyday life experience face failure, doubt and mediocrity because of offense.
Offenses come naturally when you put two people together and they have a difference in opinion. It can and most often ends in conflict and conflict leads to someone feeling offended. This feeling of offense spoils creativity, and left alone, creates wars, divorces and other harmful manifestations. To sure up yourself from the debilitating affects of offense which retards the emergence of man, you need one thing, MERCY.

In this next step in Developing Future Potential and Personal Genius, we must understand how Love and Mercy needs to be a part of thought processes to truly feel the success we are working so hard for, but also to assist in the emergence of humanity. You see, none of this matters without Love; without gratitude and appreciation. Being appreciative of life's journey and being grateful for other's contributions in your life. This leads to a more fulfilling experience and helps you with becoming more merciful to those whose path you cross. In order for mankind to truly become a more advanced society, like something we have never seen before, we must learn to appreciate one another, forgive each other. Like roses with thorns, we prick each other daily, giving rise to offenses. This keeps us apart, but when we refuse to be offended and in turn forgive each one their thorns , then and only then will we be able to ascend to higher levels of intelligence and social harmony. We will finally be able to leave our playpen called earth and explore the stars!
This chapter's exercise deals with forgiveness: For 24 hours, every time someone or something offends you, immediately forgive that person or situation. And once you've forgiven, don't allow your mind to bring back up the offense. This will help you to see the vital importance Mercy has in your life. It will also give you more time to create, organize and achieve your life's goals. You will be removed from the ledger of those who hinder humanity's emergence and placed on the ledger of those who's works have advanced mankind's emerging Future Potential and Personal Genius.

Please take time and go back through this book and re-read each chapter and understand the concepts and ideas. Redo the exercises and meditate what you've learned. Don't worry if it takes time for you to grasp certain things. In time, you will see the over arching theme of Future Potential and Personal Genius and how intricately laced is your life in the fabric of the Universe. You are here for a reason and you've taken the time to read this book for a reason.
