Dad still wasn't home and Kellin kept having his nightmare.
"Mom," Kellin said. "Where's dad?" He'd ask again.
"Honey, call him." She said tiredly.
"Did you guys fight?"
"No sweetie. Your dad is just on a business trip. He'll be home by the end of the month."
"Ok."
His mom looked up as he walked away, concern etched on her face.
When she heard his door close, she went up to Daniels room.
"Honey, do you know what's wrong with your brother?"
"Yeah." He replied as he scrolled through his twitter. "He thinks you and dad are splitting up."
"Why would he think that?"
"Because of the fight."
"What fight?"
"When Kellin was six, we woke up to you and dad fighting. Kellin had told me it was nothing and tucked me into bed but he never went to his room. He was on top of the stairs when he saw daddy walk out after you told him if he did, to never come back." Daniel replied quietly. "Even though Kells and I are two different people doesn't mean I don't when something's bothering him, by the way. And I think you need to help him sort this out because he's been ignoring Vic for the past eight days."
Daniel turned back around and continued to be on his phone while his mom stood there, a bit dumbfounded if she's honest.
"Kellin, honey," she said quietly as she opened his door, sticking her head in. "Are you awake?"
"This room can one hold a single person at a time. Please make your way to the exit or force will be used." Kellin replied. He was facing his wall with his blanket securely wrapped around him.
"Vic called." She said as she sat at the foot of the bed. "Said you've been ignoring him."
"I don't know a Vic." Kellin replied.
"That's not nice, Kellin." She reprimanded softly.
"I don't care."
"Kellin." She sighed.
"Good night mom."
It was only four in the afternoon.
