The thing about royals is that you think you have the power to do everything you want.Sometimes,that's the absolute truth.But sometimes,when the things get real,you have no power at all in your hands.Although,it doesn't mean you can't find ways to tiptoe around it.
I woke up first than Rydel.Those days it wasn't as odd as it was before.My wife is in the final stage of her pregnancy,so she is very tired.Our baby is almost here.Every time I think about our child,I worry.This baby is the most powerful person in the Four Kingdoms and it's not even born yet!
I meet Rocky at the back of the palace and we leave to see Dr.Allison.Benjamin is set to meet us there.He hasn't told his wife that he might have a disease because of our dearest father.What pisses me off the most is that all of this is happening because of dad.He should've warned us sooner about his disease.I could've planned to do something about it.But NO! Leave it to us to find out when it's convenient to King George.
My hands are sweating and my heart is beating fast.I could go through this disease and not tell Rydel about it.Not now,at least.But,I won't be able to live with myself if I passed this gene to my child.This kid is going to fight many battles,just for starters.
'We will find a cure,Ellington.If you have this,I'm not going to let you die.' Rocky looks at me seriously as we wait for Benjamin and Dr.Allison.I nod looking around; avoiding eye to eye contact.
Rocky picked this house in the Abemia/Leminia boarder.This is most definitely a wealthy family house.Perhaps a summer house.It is full of pictures,thought.Of the couple,their child,their parents.In other life,me and Rydel could have a simple life like this.Nothing to worry about expect the bills in the end of the month.War is over so no worries about getting called to serve.
It is ungrateful to think if we weren't royals,our lives would be much simpler.
'Ryland and Ben are here.' Rocky takes me off my thoughts.
I look outside and see my brothers by blood and by heart leaving the car.The outside of house is full of guards from both nations.Men who probably would've gone to war facing each other smile and shake hands.Peace is such a beautiful thing.At least,I did something good in this world.
'Brother.' Benjamin comes my way.We hug briefly; I look at him in the eyes and see fear.Fear just like when he was a boy and sneaked into my room at night because he was afraid of thunders.
'Everything is going to be fine,Ben.' I sound confident,even though that's not what I am feeling.
'Kiara doesn't know.She will have to some point,right?' Benjamin asks as if he is asking for advice.
'Rydel doesn't know,either.' I tell him.
Dr.Allison gets inside and looks at us.She is a doctor so she has no signs in her face who could show the results.She has Rocky for a more quiet place,since the guards are talking outside.Ryland leads us to a room.The office,for sure.Maybe the husband's since it's full of pictures of his wife.
There's something I have to change.My office doesn't have enough pictures of my wife.It would obviously help me through the toughness of the job.
'Prince Ellington and Prince Benjamin,sit please.' Dr.Allison says pointing to the chairs.We sit next to each other,while Ryland and Rocky sit in the couches.We all are sitting on the edges of our seats.
'I'm going to read the result for each,ok?' Dr.Allison informs as she picks the papers.
'First,Prince Benjamin of the Household Ratliff,Prince of Dandelli and Prince consort of Leminia...the result is negative for Huntington...But,your blood has the gene so it might pass for further generations.' Dr.Allison says.I breath relieve for my brother; but he looks concerned.
