CHAPTER 15 | Little Red, Stop Running Like a Hoe

Blue-green eyes.

Sean stared at me, looking confused and nervous at the same time. He opened his mouth to say something but closed it when nothing was said. Finally, shaky words came out of his mouth.

"What do you mean 'blue-green eyes', Angeli?" Sean questioned in a shaky tone.

"I mean that when I was kissing you, an image of a pair of blue-green eyes appeared. Then, the image distorted and was replaced with a guy who was staring intently into my soul," I explained to him carefully as I tried to grasp the image as it slowly vanishes from my mind.

Sean continued to stare at me. After every passing second, his eyes grew wide in realization. He looked frightened as he took in my explanation. He seemed like a deer caught in headlights. Just like a snap with two fingers, he regained his composure.

"I haven't realized that you see my eyes as those two-tone colors. Babe, that car must've hit you real hard," he chuckled – nervously.

I may not have remembered any of my past that includes Sean in it, but I do know when someone looks guilty of something. I sighed and chuckled along with Sean's 'joke'. I decided to let it slide – for now.

"It's getting late isn't it, Angeli?" Sean says. "We should get going. I will go ahead and take the extra platters of food so we can eat them for dinner. It'll be a waste if we don't do so."

He saunters towards the table and takes majority of the trays, balancing all in his arms. He leaves me with a few trays that I could manage to carry on my own. I walk towards the table as he brushes past me to go back to the house. I balanced three trays in my arms and turn around to see Sean completely gone.

I walk towards the entrance in between the two large trees. Taking a deep breath, I walk forward into the forest. The ground under me crunched as leaves break under my shoes. My own shadow grew longer and dimmer as minimal sunlight penetrates through the colorful autumn leaves. After a few minutes, I arrived in front of two paths leading into two opposite directions from one another. I bit my lip and contemplated in which path to take. I literally did the "ini mini miny moe" and it landed on the left path. I took a deep breath and walked onward.

I continued to walk for what seemed like hours. The sun had completely vanished, taking the remaining of its sunlight. The gleam of the moon was like a spotlight as it shines where I go. An owl hooted from a tree on my left. A sudden howl from a wolf sliced through the silent night. I shivered as pessimistic thoughts flooded my mind, consuming all positive thoughts I held onto after getting lost into the woods.

I opened my eyes and caught a shadow dash through the trees on my left. I let the trays fall out of my arms and onto the ground. The food has gone wasted. I backed away from those trees until my back hit the bark. I prayed silently as a few tears trickled down my cheek. My thoughts ceased as a twig snapped from behind me. On impulse, I fled as fast as I can.

The adrenaline pulsated through my veins as my feet kicked faster from the enemy. My pupils dilated as I ran down the dirt trail. Twigs snapped and leaves crunched mercilessly behind me as the enemy gains forward to my running figure. Branches scraped my skin leaving deep cuts in return. Suddenly, something pulls my arm and spins me around. Using my other arm free from grasp, I smacked the foe real hard. The enemy fell onto the ground with a grunt.

"Ow," moans the figure down on the dirt path.

"Sean!" I say in realization. I knelt down beside him and cradle his face in my hands. A bruise started to form at his right cheek where I hit him. Sean picks up his hand and slowly touches the bruise. He winces and attempts to get up from the ground. I hold onto his hand and aid him.
