Aunt Dahlia, Clarissa and Sarabeth led my friends and I down the asphalt path leading into the back of Horrorland. We passed a few more park patrons on our walk. Families. Mostly all of their kids were in tears....their parents tried to calm them down but it wasn't working.
This made me frown a bit. I felt horrible for those little kids, they must be traumatized from the scares in this place. Their little minds aren't mature enough to handle the stuff that this park dishes out. Looking away from the most recent passing family, I tried to focus on something else.
Fortunately, that's when I saw a sign coming up next to the path. It was made out of purple-ish wood and in bright red letters were the words: 'Vampire Village'. The sign pointed down a path forking off of our current one.
The witches led us down that path and into Vampire Village. The buildings there resembled the ones in Werewolf Village, there were just blood splatters on the windows and the surrounding area had organ music playing instead of wolf howls. As we made our way through the little village, we caught a glimpse of one of its inhabitants.
A grown man with slicked back black hair and gray eyes. He wore a suit with a black cape tied around his neck. As we passed him, he smiled. And that's when I saw it.
He had fangs! I gasped, he was a vampire!
"Hello children." He greeted as we walked by. The four of us waved anxiously, not slowing our pace.
"Good day, Count Nightwing." Sarabeth nodded as we passed.
Continuing on, we passed a large building made out of dark colored bricks. It looked like some sort of satanic church!
This nust have been the wedding chapel that Curly had told us about! I stared up at it, vicious images of all the park's monsters were on the colorful glass windows. I recognized them! Will Blake, a Horror, Ray Thurston, the giant praying mantis, the three witches we were currently with....all of it looked too gruesome to be on a chapel....
A few minutes later, we exited Vampire Village and entered what I presumed was the back of the park. It was foggy, but not foggy enough for me not to see the large mansion looming before us.
It was two stories high and made out of black bricks. Windows lined both floors, but only a few had lights in them at the moment. The mansion itself was huge. It looked more like a hotel than a mansion.
"Wow...." I breathed, staring up at it. I had to shield my eyes from the early evening sun to see it.
"Let's get inside! The King is waiting." Aunt Dahlia coaxed.
They led us up to the front doors and Aunt Dahlia knocked a few times before a Horror with huge yellow eyes opened up and let us inside.
The inside of the house put me in awe. It was lavishly decorated with sparkling marble floors with fancy red rugs covering them. The curtains were a dark red and the walls were black. Two staircases stretched from the second level to the ground floor, one on the far right and the other on the far left. It looked truly amazing, the King of Horrorland really knew how to live!
"Is he in his bedroom?" Aunt Dahlia asked the Horror that had let us in.
"No, he's in the throne room. Right through there." The Horror replied, pointing down the center hallway in between the two staircases. Aunt Dahlia nodded at the Horror and smiled at us, she led us down the corridor then.
We came upon a set of giant wooden doors. Aunt Dahlia knocked on them three times. No words were uttered, but the wooden doors began to slowly creak open, revealing a lavish stone floor and walled room. A few pillars lined the red carpet that led up to one throne at the back of the room. And on that throne, sat Horrorland's King.
