act 1, scene 4
unidentifiable

THE trip to the police station contained yoongi pointing and asking what things were. for instance, he pointed at a fire hydrant, a car, a cigarette, and—jimin's favorite—stop lights.

the boy stared in awe for what seemed like eternity as he watched the light change from red to green.

but the amusement faded and was replaced with heartache. he felt bad that the boy had been so sheltered he was unaware of human life.

now, they sat at a desk, while an officer was helping assist them.

"and you said you found him naked? in a pond?" he asked. his name was on a badge spelled across his breast pocket; hyungwoo. jimin nodded in affirmation as the image of earlier's events flashed in his mind. he hit a hard block on the memory.

after the brief interrogation, the process of finding out yoongi's identity begun. while everything was getting sorted out, the two remained at the desk watching the officers and a few civilians bustle around them.

at some point, yoongi had acquired jimin's phone without the other noticing. and stupidly, he had no passcode.

curious, yoongi snooped.

he found a photo gallery, skimming through the bountiful photos of jimin, but soon losing interest. the real thing was right beside him after all. he exited out of the gallery and found the internet.

jimin was bored out his mind. if he knew the ordeal would have taken so long, he'd probably have left yoongi to get some food. but upon turning to tell the other what he was doing, his expensive phone in the clueless boy's hands became his top priority.

"did you really just steal my phone in the middle of a police station," jimin hissed, keeping his voice down. he snatched the device back and scanned it quickly to make sure nothing was messed with.

"i didn't steal it." yoongi informed firmly.

he gave jimin a pointed look while the other was flabbergasted. he wondered how yoongi knew what stealing was but couldn't even fathom the idea of traffic lights.

"i understand your world now." the older nodded. "i must go." he stood up from the chair while jimin was paralyzed with confusion.

if the returning officer hadn't stopped yoongi from leaving, jimin would've remained in the same position he was frozen in.

"there seems to be a problem." hyungwoo sauntered up to the pair after instructing yoongi to remain seated. "he isn't in the database and we couldn't identify his fingerprint." he eyed the mystery boy wearily.

"what does that mean?" jimin questioned. he was beyond confused now. he was going to ask to see missing persons reports going back to the year of yoongi's birth, but he realized he didn't even know how old he was. he only knew yoongi was older.

"we're going to need to take a dna sample and it'd be best if he stayed at the station overnight," the officer suggested. "he could be dangerous."

jimin held back his scoff with a great deal of effort.

if he spent fifteen minutes with yoongi he'd come to realize the boy held zero threat.

jimin looked over at yoongi who maintained a blank expression, seeming to not understand anything that was happening. so with a sigh, jimin agreed.

the officer excused himself to get the kit needed to swab yoongi's mouth.

the older stood up abruptly and brought jimin along with him by the arm. "what—" he could barely get a sentence out as he was sneakily snuck out of the station.

"yoongi!" jimin shouted as the older continued to drag him down the street and away from the station. yet he made no move to struggle against the boy dragging him.

"yoongi slow down—what is going on?"

they entered a shop and yoongi hid behind a rack of clothing, finally letting go of jimin's bicep. a few employees looked at the two with caution, but let them be otherwise.

jimin chuckled at the boy who peeked his head from between the multicolored clothes every so often. he was still dressed in only a hoodie and sweats with no shoes.

jimin pulled back a few clothes on the rack and was face to face with yoongi. he offered the kindest smile he could muster which resulted in his eyes closing slightly.

"you have a pretty face, min jimin." yoongi spoke.

the younger took a step back and disregarded the compliment. he focused mainly on the fact that yoongi, once again, got his name wrong. "i told you. it's park jimin."

"doesn't change the fact that i prefer min." yoongi turned and ventured further into the store. he didn't wait for jimin to catch up to his side, not necessarily caring if he followed or not.

"we have to go back to the police station so they can take your dna." jimin spun him around, making him almost bump into a mannequin at the same time.

cutely, yoongi apologized to the inanimate object.

"no we don't." yoongi shook his head. "yes we do." and jimin nodded.

"but your promised to take me back to the pond. it's our marriage, remember." yoongi poked his finger hard into jimin's chest.

jimin felt like he sighed out all of his breaths.

he ran a hand through his dark hair and ruffled it in a messy fashion. recollecting himself, he convinced everything within him to not snap.

"you're an unidentified person yoongi," jimin attempted to explain, "you may have been kidnapped or something when you were younger. we need to find out who you are."

"i know who i am. i understand things now; your phone told me." yoongi forced his hand into the back of jimin's pocket.

the younger yelped in surprise, but figured the action was innocent when yoongi retrieved his smartphone.

"you can't just do that." jimin said shortly.

he gulped and smoothed down the back of his pants, trying to get rid of the foreign feeling yoongi's hand gave.

"take me to your dwelling, please. i will explain." yoongi handed jimin his phone back, rather than stuffing it into his back pocket again.

a mental debate went on in the younger's head, but he obliged in the end.

he didn't know why, but if anything went wrong, he could always bring the strange male back to the police station.

"fine." and they left hand in hand.
