act 8, scene 2
serendipity

THE forest was alive with wildlife and blooming flora. it was all so beautiful to jimin as he carefully stepped around plants and tiny creatures.

he felt similar to a disney princess, much like snow white or cinderella with the way the forest creatures flocked around him in friendliness. a sensation of peace rang throughout his being at the familiarity of the place he's been in so many times before. since having met yoongi, he hadn't been to the forest with the means of just enjoying his surroundings, so it was a nice feeling being back; almost nostalgic.

as he expected, the deeper he ventured, the more congested the flora and fauna became. there were bushes of berries both edible and poisonous, the trees that seemed to be thick at the base and elegantly extravagant at the branches curled with life. there were two deers ahead of jimin, gracefully leading him towards the wispy willow trees.

plump birds of baby pink, pale yellow, and sky blue chirped melodies over his head. rabbits and bunnies hopped in between his steps and pawed at his ankles. he knew none of this was because he was a disney princess in his own fairy tail universe. this was all yoongi's doing, it just had to be.

the hanging vines of the thick willow trees neared, and a band of colorful birds parted an entryway with their beaks pulling back the curtain of leaves. beyond was the pond where everything had started and a series of memories flashed in a sequenced second in front of jimin's eyes; his heart soared.

a slush of nerves begun like a tyrant tsunami in his stomach and he swallowed down the urge to throw up his anxiety when he finally stepped onto the soft and unkept grass within the foliage.

the pond was as he remembered; mysterious and alluring, horsetails and lily pads, dragonflies and wild flowers. but he knew better than to trust pretty appearances, because the pond was more than what it was assumed to be. it harbored other worlds and other creatures: it was darkness and suffocating.

he stayed on the bank, the animals frenzied around him with joy. their behavior made joy surge through his blood and a bliss buzzed about in the air—it was either that or the bumblebees.

jimin's attention was caught when a slush was heard from the pond in a particularly crowded bed of horsetails. the dark rings that inched upwards the plant like clinging bubbles seemed to be winking at him knowingly as the tall, thin green weed began to sway without there being a breeze.

there was then a pair of eyes within the darkness of them. cunning and serpentine they were, watching jimin unblinking. a cold shudder pricked at his skin before the two eyes disappeared with more moving water. the land animals were sitting by the pond or flying over it at this point, all looking calm and serene, much unlike how jimin felt. the aquatic animals, like the frogs and the tadpoles, were either swimming at the shallow end or leaping across the lilies.

the eyes returned shortly after. except this time, they were recognizable; familiarly yoongi's; soft and much like a curious fox. jimin's heartbeat stuttered and skyrocketed when the sloshing of moving water began again, blue hair visible from between the plants.

yoongi was getting closer, his eyes still the only thing above the water, much like a hippopotamus or alligator—only cute. jimin's plump lips parted wordlessly as he just watched. the water seemed to stretch for miles and it took what felt like hours for yoongi to finally reach the part of the pond that shallowed.

no words were exchanged when yoongi's body finally made an appearance. water dripped from his ears, face and skin, droplets making home in his hair. he was standing in front of jimin now, but since the younger stood inches away from the water, yoongi's bare feet were atop the soft rocks inside the crystal clear liquid.
