act 9, scene 3
my understandingsTHE lobby of the museum already had yoongi's mouth dropping in awe. he took in the white focal point lighting outlining the walls, the different photos of dinosaur fossils and famous figures who'd visited the museum. as jimin signed the two of them in, yoongi picked up a light blue brochure and began to skim through the printed words.
"you know," the younger waltzed up beside him with the kindest, softest of smiles. "it's even cooler once we actually enter." he found it immensely adorable how yoongi was absolutely intrigued with everything new he encountered. it was a childlike innocence that made him want to squeal and clutch at his heart, no matter how over dramatic it may seem.
the two entered the large main room of the museum that held the skeleton of a tyrannosaurus rex. it was on a black stage circled by a single red velveteen rope. the main room had smaller encasings of fossils and journal reports near the walls, and several corridors throughout, leading to different parts of the museum.
yoongi ran up to the rope and clutched onto it, staring upwards at the dinosaur with an open mouth. "it's cool, right?" jimin followed quickly behind him, apologizing to one of the staff when being told running was prohibited. "do you think it misses it's skin?" yoongi asked, poking jimin's own fleshy cheek with his finger.
"perhaps," he mused, "but i'm sure the attention it gets from visitors every day makes up for it."
"they were weird creatures." the comment from yoongi made jimin's thoughts hit a hard Pause. he let the statement process in his head before turning and asking what the older meant exactly.
he was met with a shrug and a sigh, then an explanation that made his knees almost give out beneath him. "we all got along better with the more docile creatures, as the tyrannosaurus often tried to fight with us over food, or attempt to eat us."
"bitch, you're old as fuck!" jimin gasped, bringing is hands to cover his gaping mouth. he asked yoongi a bunch of questions regarding dinosaurs and what the earth was like back during those time periods.
he found it more strange that he was so accepting of the fact that yoongi lived back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. he was stunned, yes, just didn't dwell on it for too long.
he then remembered a conversation they had a while ago, moving their topic onward. "i thought you ate a strictly oceanic diet?"
yoongi nodded, "not oceanic. i can eat freshwater creatures as well, though i prefer to stay away from amphibians; they taste rubbery raw. but the spirit dragons who feed on a diet similar to this psycho dinosaur," he jutted his thumb out to the creature before them, "they were competition."
"well," jimin really had nothing else to add. "do you want to go see the other theropods, min-min?" he sneakily added in the nickname, enjoying the flustered way yoongi got when he'd say it.
his heart lurched.
and as they begun their way towards the corridor of the other hollow boned, three-toed dinosaurs, jimin felt as if he'd walked through a threshold of immortal light and understanding.
he stared wide eyed at yoongi. blue hair shimmering like vibrant ocean waves under a summer sun, calculative eyes and a mouth that never seemed to not pout. and when jimin realized how much he wanted to just kiss yoongi in the middle of the damn hallway, he breathed out a simple:
"fuck."
