"She really is an extraordinary girl," Tonks commented. She turned quickly to the door to makae sure Victoire was still brushing her teeth then winked at Teddy.

Harry forced his family to go see their cousin Dudley, and Teddy had asked if he could stay at home and invite Victoire for the night. The last time she had slept over was ten years ago when Teddy was seven and VIctoire was five, and Harry and Ginny were happy to have Victoire over again.

"Yeah, she's-" Teddy sighed "she's-"

"Your girlfriend?" his mother suggested.

"Mum-"

"Teddy, I'm your bloody mother. You cannot hide this from me anymore."

"Mum, she's not-"

"Teddy, I know you," Tonks smiled, "and your hair is bright pink."

Teddy opened his mouth to speak then closed it again. His mother's eyes were twinkling. He ran a hand through his hair and realized it was, in fact, blazing. Today, his hair was short with curls that barely hung over his left eye. It had originally been baby blue before he starting talking about Victoire.

"She's got incredible parents," Tonks smiled fondly, "I really do like that girl."

Teddy looked down at the floor. There was no use in pretending Victoire wasn't his girlfriend with his mother.

"No one is really supposed to know I'm with her," now Teddy felt his face flushing, "would you mind keeping this between us?"

"Of course, love." This was one of those moments where Teddy wished he could actually hug his mum.

The door clicked. Victoire was coming back. Tonks blew a kiss at Teddy and quietly exited the portrait.

"Oh, your mum's gone? I wanted to say hello," Victoire said. She had washed the makeup off her face. Her lips still had a little bit of a red tint, and the freckles around her nose were a little more visible. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail.

"She'll be back tomorrow morning," Teddy replied, "my dad probably needed her now anyway."

Victoire walked over and sat down on Teddy's bed. "Wait, so when does your family come back?"

"I reckon they've been here for hours now," Teddy shrugged, "probably think we're asleep."

Victoire snorted, "asleep." She adjusted one of Teddy's pillows and sat up. "I think I'm going to get into my pyjamas." She got up again and went back into the bathroom.

Teddy figured he should probably change as well. He usually just slept shirtless with some pyjama trousers, but as he was putting on the trousers, Teddy decided to wear an old t-shirt. Victoire was going to be here all night; he didn't want to freak her out.

"Sorry," Victoire yawned as she walked back inside. The only other time Teddy had seen her in anything close to pyjamas was Halloween, and it was in the Room of Requirement and they were both drunk. They both had to improvise with their pyjama situations. Today,  Victoire had brought her clothes from home. She was wearing lavender shorts made out of cotton with a white spaghetti-strap. She sat on the bed next to Teddy.

"Jesus, Vics, aren't you freezing? It's bloody December!"

"Nah."

"But-" Teddy scratched the back of his head, "your nipples are sticking out like mad."

"What?!"

"Not that I was particularly paying attention!" Why did he say that? "Just- I dunno. They're kind of visible right now."
