It was round 9AM. Thousands of people had gathered around Central Park. Some had signs in their hands, some were with their partners. They were waiting for their leaders, Marlene and Dominic, to arrive to begin the protest. There, among the crowd, stood Isabella and Ariel, hand in hand. Fred and Dean, hand in hand and Ziggy and Paige, hand in hand. They weren't about to be turned away for a hundredth time. Finally, Marlene and Dominic arrived, carrying a box, and walking hand in hand. The two were from Chicago, and had been kicked out of Chicago because the two were gay. Dominic was also transgender (once a female, but is legally identified as a male), so he was kicked out after he underwent a legal name change. They were the example the whole world looked up to, because they never backed away from a fight. The crowd was fired up, as they cheered loudly at the arrival of their role models. The two waved hello and were more than happy to begin the protest. This protest was going to be peaceful, but this time, they were marching. They were going to march around the whole, small, city, not once, not twice, but three times. Marlene and Dominic stood on top of the wooden box they had brought with them and began to shout to the crowd, as every one quieted down."We are here today! To march around our city not once! Not twice! But three whole times! We are going to march today to promote the rights we so deserve! And the rights that have been stripped away from us for no reason at all!" The crowd cheered in approval. Dominic shouted at the crowd, as Marlene gestured for him to step forward.
"We are going to march holding each other's hands! To show that no matter what they do to us, we not a single person! We are a strong chain of people and a strong community! I'm looking at you all, and see some of you are white, black, Asian, Mexican and I'm proud of you! For not letting the stupid government tell you where to sit, where you can and can't go, and where you can live! We are going to march for our future generations! We are marching to show them we aren't alone! We aren't going to stop! We aren't going to lose! And we will not stop fighting until we win the rights we want back!" The crowd broke into an uproar of applause and cheers.
"Let's march!" Marlene shouted, raising her hand to the sky, flashing the peace sign, the known symbol of the group. Everyone did the same and raised their hands too, holding two fingers into the air, showing peace. Marlene and Dominic jumped down from their box, and nodded. They grabbed one another's hands and looked back at the crowd. With their free hand, they held up the peace sign, as everyone began to march out of Central Park. Everyone cheered and whooped, as people began to acknowledge their presence. A lot of people yelled disgusting things at them, while others shouted at them in approval, even flashing them a peace sign back. That sent them a message: Some people weren't afraid of showing what they stood by. They continued to march, hand in hand. Fred and Dean smiled, at each other, as they kissed very quickly, and looked back at where they were marching. They held up the peace sign, and smiled and laughed. Isabella and Ariel held hands, and kept marching, holding up the peace sign. They too, exchanged quick kisses, and kept marching. Paige and Ziggy put their arms around each other, and held up peace signs as well. Things were going as planned. However, their goal of circling the town three times, was shattered. As they approached the middle school Ziggy had been arrested at, they began to notice police cars started driving towards them, shouting at them to stop marching, or else they would shoot them. They stopped marching, as Marlene and Dominic stopped, holding their grounds. Everyone stopped, and shouted at the police.
"We'll stop marching, when you give us our rights back!" Isabella cried.
"We keep marching, because you keep denying the truth!" Fred shouted.
"We march, because you make innocent people feel like outcasts!" Ziggy yelled.
"We'll stop marching, when you start working on the issues we are marching for!" Ariel shouted.
