I woke up with a smile. My alarm was blaring across the room but I hardly cared for the annoying sound. I simply got up, shook the blanket off me and turned it off with a smile.

The rest of the day went really well. Amazing how well your day goes when you're actually happy. People were a little confused as to why I was so strangely happy but I hardly cared.

I mean, this raise meant wonders to me. My savings from my teenage years had almost run out, tips were for some reason getting smaller and my belt was starting to get tighter. I had started considering getting another job.

And then this raise came along.

I shook my head and smiled.

I was at the library again, finishing up an assignment. I always found it much too jam-packed in Clair's and my little dorm room so I was often found at the library. It almost felt like a second home.

I drummed my fingers lightly on my laptop as I reread the sentence I just wrote. Suddenly my phone buzzed on the table, making a loud vibrating noise and causing everyone around me to turn and glare in my direction.

"Sheesh..." I said to myself as I self-consciously picked up my phone and ignored everyone's stares.

WHEN'S THE NEXT TUTORING SESSION CHIEF? -BRIAN

I rolled my eyes and grumbled at the "chief" part, although I was extremely surprised that he was texting me first.

I typed back...

I CAN ONLY DO SATURDAY BEFORE 12. I'M WORKING THE REST OF THE WEEKEND.

I rested my phone on my lap so that the next time someone texted me I didn't get death stares. I went back to work, although I was subconsciously awaiting Brian's reply.

I felt my phone buzz after a couple minutes.

YOU'RE KIDDING, RIGHT?

I crumpled my nose. Saturday morning did suck, but I didn't have any free time other than then.

SORRY...

I sent it and thought of another text.

I'LL UNDERSTAND IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT.

I bit my lip and set it down on my lap again, although I could no longer focus on the assignment.

Not even a minute later my phone started buzzing in a synchronized pattern. Was he calling me?

Surely enough, my phone showed that there was a call and I quickly (but politely) asked the girl beside me to watch my stuff while I took the call.

I walked away to a not-so-deadly-quiet zone and answered.

"Hello?" I said, even though I knew who it was.

"Before 12AM? On a Saturday?" So it's apparent Brian and I don't do greetings.

I breathed a deep breath in. "Yeah, about that. I have work all weekend and I really don't have a choice." I ruffled my hair and walked through the unknown section I was in. "If Saturday doesn't work for you we can maybe do it next week or something?"

I heard background noise from his end but couldn't make out what it was. "Okay..." He said, as if thinking it over. The background noise got louder until it suddenly quieted down. "Saturday it is. How about 10am?"

My heart skipped a beat. He was actually going to do it.

I smiled in relief. I had another seminar on Monday that was going to completely screw me up if I didn't understand what I was doing. "Works for me. Library again?"
