I yawned as I glanced at the time on my laptop screen. 11:52PM.

I was currently sitting in my dorm at my desk, with nothing but the loud humming of my ancient laptop and Clair's even breathing to accompany my thoughts.

I sighed and rested my cheek on my knuckles. My eyes were starting to drop but I forced them open as I scrolled through the endless pages of places for rent.

A lot of the apartments and houses were expensive, for me. A couple here and there had caught my eye, but I hadn't found anything magnificent yet. It would be really hard paying for it, since I would be living on my own.

I sighed again. 2 days had passed since Hazel's phone call. That night I had come late, since I had spent a solid hour and a half after my breakdown sipping a cold McCafe at a nearby McDonald's. There I was able to compose myself and get my thoughts together, where I had decided that I really couldn't afford to worry about Hazel and Alexis right now. I needed to focus, so instead I would repress everything and keep my emotions under control. Nothing else I could do.

I missed Hazel, which was annoying. I hadn't heard from her, but after everything I didn't know if I wanted to. The familiar pain in my chest appeared. The friendship was pretty much irreparably broken, anyway.

I continued scrolling, the apartments all starting to blend in to one another. I nevertheless kept scrolling, until something caught my eye.

White. 3 story apartment. A little shabby looking, but decent enough anyway.

It was the apartment I saw when Clair was driving me to work.

I clicked on the ad suspiciously. As I read through the description and saw the Villamor, my mouth dropped.

350$/month. Furniture, utilities, water, sewer, electric and heat included. Holy shit.

If this were a cartoon, I would have felt my eyes bob out of my head and my heart stretch out of my chest.

"Oh...my...god." I whispered under my breath. I continued re-reading the description, just to make sure that I wasn't imagining things.

Maybe there really was some kind of God, after all.

There was an email and a phone number listed, which I scribbled down on the nearest piece of paper I could find. I re-read the description again, feeling a small smile form on my face.

I opened up another tab and logged into my email. It was best to get in contact with the owner as soon as possible.

I typed quickly, making sure not to sound too desperate. I included my cell number and re-read the newly typed up email. Everything seemed alright, so I bit my lip and pressed send.

I smiled as I chewed on my lip. This was it. This was the apartment. It was perfect.

I was saved.

I shut my laptop and decided to call it a night.

"Psst." A stranger tapped me on the shoulder.

I turned around, slightly startled. Standing before me was a short, young-ish guy with a nose piercing.

"Um, can I help you?"

He pulled his hand out of his dark brown jacket pocket. Oh god...was that...

"You interested in buying? I sell cheap." He muttered. He held the plastic bag of pot tightly in between his fingers, as if he was scared that I would steal it.

I looked at him incredulously. "Uh, no. I'm good. Thanks anyway."

I turned back around and rolled my eyes. The guy kissed his teeth but nevertheless left me alone.
