The week was long and annoying. It consisted of worksheet after worksheet plus whatever our teachers had forgotten we needed to know for our finals. Talk about annoying. So when the pep rally for seniors came up we were all thrilled.
Sitting on the tiny theather seats next to Harper who was next to Audrey because Audrey was still upset over something and wasn't really talking to me all that much, I felt my ass becoming numb after just five minutes.
"I hope this thing starts soon my ass already kills," Harpers says echoing my thoughts.
"You can always sit on my lap."
I look to my right to find Ryder sitting down next to me. Harper rolls her eyes, "I'll pass thanks."
"What about you Rory? You wanna sit on my lap?"
I roll my eyes, "Go screw yourself."
He leans over and breathes into my ear, "I'm going to have to after sitting next to you."
I shove him away, "That is gross."
He just laughs and starts talking to Trace.
Finally the assembly starts and the guidance counsilors remind us how important finals are and how we need to be well rested for the four day week coming up. Then the principal told a few crappy jokes. Finally it was the art teachers turn.
"Okay seniors. We all know that this spring will bring a string of events that are important to you all, whether you're graduating mid-term or not. The seniors will host the spring carnival the first weekend of spring break. Then you'll have your senior bash the weekend before prom in April. And the senior bash brings along your time capsule!"
Everyone cheers at this. Why we do? I have no clue. Nothing exciting ever went into it.
"Now I know everyone usually puts the typical things inside but I'm begging you guys to be creative! I know I have a creative bunch in this senior class so try your best! You can either sign up alone or with a group of friends. Sign ups will be the first week after break in the cafeteria during your lunch hour."
Harper sighs, "What on earth could we possibly put in there that would be creative?"
Audrey shrugs, "We could do a slam book."
I shake my head, "That's what the girls did last year. We need something new."
Audrey nods, "You're right. My house after school? Chinese and getting ready for the party?"
I frown, "What party?"
Ryder pokes me, "My party. Didn't you hear?"
I look at Audrey, "You're kidding me right?"
She sighs, "No I'm not."
I grip Harper's arm, "She's kidding right?"
Harper shrugs, "The only reason she even wants to go is because we all know your brother gets the best alcohol for his friends so we know he'll have good stuff."
I glance at a smirking Ryder, "Fine. But I won't be at Audrey's until six. I have to pick up Izzy and drop her off at her baby sitters house."
When I walk into tumbletots Izzy immediately runs over and starts jumping up and down, "Guess what! Guess what!"
"What Izzy?" I sigh.
She runs off without a word and I roll my eyes at her. Five year olds.
A minute later she walks up holding the hand of another little girl, "This is my new friend Rosie!"
