Chapter 28

I had picked out two outfits, one for Izzy and one for Rosie. Plus I had found my dress for graduation. I was watching Sammi try on a pair of sandels as I pulled on a pair when she said, "I know."
I look up at her, "What?"
She sighs as she walks back and forth in the shoes a few times, "I know about the guide for the time capsul. Audrey told me all about it last night."

I gulp, "Why didn't you tell him?"
She shrugs, "I wanted to talk to you first. I have no reason to tell him yet. I want to know everything though, then I'll debate telling him."
I nod, "Can we talk about it over lunch?"
She nods, "Sure."

I'm sitting down across from Sammi picking at my chicken cesar salad as she eyes me, "So who's idea was it?"
I gulp, "I thought of the guide, but it wasn't my idea to use Ryder."
She nods, "Who's idea was it?"
I sigh, "Audrey's."

Sammi nods, "Was this the payback for him cheating on her?"
I nod, "It was suppose to be, but it's not like he knows about it. Plus after Christmas break, after I told her I'd do it she decided she wanted him back after all of this was over. She thought I could improve him, make him want to be a better boyfriend. But he didn't need that. I haven't done anything. He is a good boyfriend."

Sammi nods thoughtfully and smiles, "You love him."
I bite my lip and tears well up in my eyes, "I can't hurt him Sammi. I'm suppose to break up with him and Audrey is suppose to make him feel better but I can't hurt him. But if I choose to not hurt him I'll hurt her. I don't know what to do."

She sighs, "Maybe you should tell him and then tell him that you didn't know you'd actually fall for him and just apologize."
I shake my head, "He'd never forgive me. Plus what about Audrey?"
She frowns, "Can't you just tell her that you fell for him?"
I shake my head, "Not after what she pulled yesterday. It was all her fault, she was purposely trying to break us up. She didn't even give me a chance to break up with him."

Sammi's face falls, "You're really going to break up with him?"
I gulp, "I'm suppose too. But I don't too. I love him, I can't just let him go like that."
She eyes me, "When are you suppose to break up with him exactly? The time capsule goes in on Saturday right? So before then?"
I nod, "Yeah by Friday night I guess."

She taps her nails on the table and takes a sip of her ice tea, "It's Tuesday, so you have until Thursday to decide if you'll break up with him or not. If I don't like what you say, I will tell him everything Rory. I can't let anyone hurt my big brother. I know he's been a jerk to some girls but he's a good guy. He would never let this happen to me. Carter would never let this happen to you right?"

I nod, "No he wouldn't, but he's letting it happen to Ryder. He knows, but he has something on the guys too. I don't know what though."
She sighs, "Probably something stupid, they aren't this genius."
"Genius?" I question, "I was thinking you hated this idea."

She shakes her head, "No a guide is brilliant. I'd really like to read it actually. I just hate that you didn't go about it in a different way."
I sigh, "I know."
"You could have gone out on a date with a different guy every three weeks. Tested them all out. It would have been so much fun. Each guy has a different quirk, you can't decode them all by just dating one guy."

I nod, "I know, we've actually talked to other girls without them knowing it. We ask them about the little things."
She smiles, "Like the silly late night talks? Or when a guy holds your hand and brings it up to his lips to kiss? My last boyfriend, the one Abigail liked? He brings every date he has to the ice rink. In the winter they ice skate and in the summer they roller blade."

I shake my head, "Ryder does that."
She nods, "I know. He was really disappointed when he did that with you. He told me after that he had to make sure each date was special because you deserved more than the routine."
My lips part in surprise, "He told you that?"
She nods, "Yeah so I asked him what you guys had talked about so I could help him. When he thought of the pillow fort he was so stoked. He had it planned since your first date."
