Hayden's Point Of View

"Leah.." I gasped. She was standing on the other side of the room, her eyes shining at the view of her son, or at least I thought it was because of him. I had not thought that she was going to come here, let alone that I would ever see her again other than in a courtroom.

"You're doing that completely wrong." She told me as she approached me. I froze. Why would she willingly come closer to after all I put her through? I knew that I, for sure would kill the person who locked me in for what seemed like three weeks, but here she was, getting the little pisser's diapers on without any flaw. I watched her as she motioned me to come and I did as I was told as she lay him down on the ground. He was still crying, but she shut him up by giving him the silencer. Of course.

Cautiously, I knelt down beside her as she lifted the legs of her- our son and slid the diapers under them then folding them and put the stripes on the side onto the front.

"It's not that difficult once you get the hang of it." She told me, holding her hands out so Jaymi would take them. Without questioning he did it and she helped him stand up.

That easy.

The baby held onto her leg as if it was hiding from the devil himself- me.

We stared at each other for a very long time, before she opened her mouth to speak.

"Hayden, cops are out there, they are surrounding the bathroom right now."

What. I blinked, this took me by complete surprise. I forgot about the consequences this would have. Fuck, they would throw me back into jail even before I could make up a lie.

"No, no no, no!"I tore on my hair, walking back until I reached the wall behind me. Without any other word I punched the wall with all the force I had.

"Hayden!" She exclaimed, walking over to me in rapid steps. The baby watched us. What she did next took me by surprise, namely she pushed herself into the gap between me and the wall and hugged me.

"Please don't get mad, I don't want you to regret something later, they will shoot without any second thought." She explained as fisted the back of my shirt. Slowly I put my arms around her tiny frame, it was an rare feeling to have her back in my arms, but I savoured every last bit of it.

"Leah... I will go back to jail, I will rot there and you'll leave me again. You can't leave me, I'm mad, I can't think straight, I don't know what this is, but I want this to fade." I told her as I whispered into her soft brown hair.

"Hayden, you will not go back to jail." She told me with so much certainty, but I knew I would.

"Yes, I will, you know that they think I'm a filth." I told her,"They will hold everything that I have ever done against me."

I felt her rub my back, just like she used to in the old days.

"Hayden, I want you to listen closely to me now." She told me, so I lifted my head out of the crook of her neck to look at her. Her eyes were filled with tears, her cheeks soaked. My hands almost instantly found her cheeks as I wiped the tears away.

"Hayden, I want you to climb out of that window there and hide in your room back in the cave." She sniffled,"I will tell them you were never here and planned everything, I'll tell them that you knew they would find Jaymi and he was sleeping silently, not injured. I will tell them that you probably felt guilty and let someone put him here so you could give him back, because you knew that Luke had a job just across this shop and was going to toilet more than often, does that sound like a plan?"

My eyes lit up, her plan was actually very good.

"Since when are you such a liar?" I grinned as she looked at me through her thick eyelashes.
