Leah's Point Of View
The moment Jaymi and I got out of the car, everything happened two times slower. I saw Zahir looking up, his facial expression changing from a sad one to a really surprised one. He stood up and ran towards us, I had never seen Zahir showing so many emotions before. His arms engulfed me and the very tired Jaymi with a warm hug.
"Fuck, you're back!" He mumbled into my neck as he took Jaymi into his arms. When he drew his face back to look at Jaymi, I was surprised to see the tears running down on his cheeks.
"Oh, Zahir, don't cry!" I told him. He closed his eyes for a moment and let out a sigh.
"I thought... I don't know, you were gone for three weeks, I expected the worst, Leah, I-I thought you two were... " He did not continue as he hugged Jaymi tightly. My eyes widened. He thought we died.
"Zahir, we're okay! Stop crying." I laughed shyly.
"Yeah and remember me to thank God for that every day." He mumbled as gave me a brief hug again, then looking past me, to the police officers. One of them was walking towards us, while I noticed the neighbours around being really nosy, some were even standing on their porch to see what was going on.
"Mister Michel, we'd like to ask you a few questions if you don't mind." Officer Kingston said. Zahir nodded fast: "Of course, sir."
He looked at me then and motioned me to go inside and I obeyed him, praying that he would say anything to make Hayden look bad.
Meanwhile, I decided to bring Jaymi to bed and maybe clean up a bit, the house looked like a mess. Nothing was cleaned up and the pasta we ate three weeks ago was still on that horrid table of ours. I walked upstairs, not even looking into his room, because I knew Hayden had trashed it.
When he was asleep, I made my way back downstairs and cleaned up until Zahir came in again, his face pale.
"Did Hayden really try to kill Jaymi?"
Hayden's Point Of View
I ran away, ducking even, just in case they would shoot. I immediately made it back to my car which was parked near the entrance, just beside some police cars.
Great.
I pulled my hood up and tried to walk as casually as possible towards it. My thoughts were with Leah, I could not be caught again. If I were to be caught, I could not ever be with her properly and I would never have my normal mind back. Casually as possible I opened my car door and immediately drove off, making sure that I was not followed, by driving in a labyrinth.
When I finally felt less paranoid, I drove into the direction of the cave since I couldn't go back to the house I bought. The police was probably all over it, searching for what ever they were looking for to get me back into hell and let me rot there. I smirked to myself, knowing very well that they wouldn't find a damn thing, all the bomb plans were safely with them and we had not done anything yet, but they decided to make a classic hydrogen bomb. I got out of my car, taking away the plate, just in case they were looking for my car number and then took the secret path into the cave, which was through one of the non-working elevators. I had to type in a code and then the back of the elevator opened and just like that I was two doors away from Steve's or should I say my office. I walked straight past it and into my apartment that was a few hallways further down. The sooner I was hidden, the better. My apartment was of course how I had left it, dull and dark.
Leah's Point Of View
"What did they tell you?" I asked Zahir, clearly worried.
"They.. er, they told me that Hayden kidnapped the both of you and that he was about to kill Jaymi, but you deny it, they think you're scared." He told me, placing a hand on my shoulder, but I shrugged it off, huffing.
"What should I be afraid of?"
"That he's going to hurt you. Leah, you know that we'll protect you, right? He can't do you any harm, you're under good protection, just tell them the truth." He told me soothingly as I rolled my eyes.
"I'm not scared of him, that's why I won't tell them what happened, I don't want him to spend the rest of his days in prison! He didn't kidnap me nor did he lock me into the room. If I had wanted to I could easily have broken that door down, Zahir."
"Leah, you can't deny this! The guy isn't safe, even if you think he wouldn't hurt you, you don't know what he is capable of! He's killed so many people with out a single trace of anything left, he did not even feel guilty about doing so!" Zahir raised his voice.
"I know fully well what he's capable of, Zahir and it's my fault he's miserable like this, I didn't even visit him in three years, he's had no one but himself, he's been taken from Steve with about 16 or 17 years of age, only because he tried to protect me! I'm the one who caused all of this, if it wasn't for me he'd be in college right now, having the time of his life, he would still live with his family or stay in contact with them, but you know what? They think he's dead! It's my fucking fault he's so miserable, Zahir! I can't hurt him any more, he's been through more than any guy of his age should have!"
"Leah, he's not miserable, he's gone mental," Zahir sighed, "They told me that if they catch him, they'll send him into a metal house."
