Two years later....
Lindsey was walking out of a coffee shop, the same coffee shop he had ran into Stevie years earlier. He was struggling to carry everything and not drop his newborn son in the process.
Eventually he managed to drop everything but his son, all his things tumbling to the ground in a mess
"Damnit," he sighed under his breath, squatting down to pick everything up
He was just finishing picking up his stuff when he saw a pair of boots and a familiar voice
"Linds?"
He froze, slowly looking up, "Stevie?"
"Yeah...it's...been a while" she said looking at him like it was the first time all over again
"It has," he looked back and forth between the little girl on her hip and his sleeping son
"Well it was nice seeing you" Lindsey turned to walk away quickly
"Lindsey..." Stevie called after him, beginning to follow him
"Please don't follow me" he asked sadly
"I just want to talk," she said softly
"I don't think there's anything to talk about"
"You have a baby, that's something," she gestured to the carrier he was holding
"And you have my daughter" he pointed to the child that was smiling at him
"Please don't be like this," she begged
"How do you expect me to be Stevie?"
"Stevie? What happened to Steph?"
"You left me. I moved on."
"Clearly...Let me at least help you take your stuff to your apartment" she moved away slightly as her daughter was trying to grab for Lindsey
"I can manage just fine, but thank you," Lindsey said
"Linds, please?" She asked finally letting her daughter touch his arm
"Fine," he sighed
Stevie picked some of Lindsey's stuff up and followed him to his apartment
She noticed that he had gotten a new place, this one being bigger but not as nice as the last
"You moved?" She asked him
"Needed a bigger place," he shrugged, setting the bags he was carrying on the counter and setting the baby carrier on the floor
"And the fact I couldn't sleep in the room...where...where you..." he stopped himself
"I get it," Stevie nodded
Lindsey nodded and emptied the bags onto the counter, Stevie placed her little girl down
"Baby," she pointed to the newborn in the carrier
"Yes, baby" Lindsey said
"Brother?" She said again looking up at Lindsey
"Yeah?" He nodded quietly
"Up?" She reached her arms up to him
He slowly lifted her and kissed the side of her head, "I've waited a while to meet you."
The girl wrapped her arms around his neck and snuggled into him
"What's your name, huh?" He rubbed the back of her head
"Evie" she didn't loosen her grip on him
"That's a pretty name."
"Thank you..." Evie looked at her mother and spoke again
