Weeks had passed until Stevie and Lindsey had said a word to each other. The kids could sense the tension between them."
"Mommy, why aren't you speaking to daddy?" Evie asked seeing her father was once again out
"You're too young to understand, Evie," she replied, continuing to fix lunch for them
"Why isn't the pretty lady allowed inside?"
"She kissed Daddy, okay?"
"Why? Isn't that your job?" Evie said confused
"That's why we are fighting."
"But he still sees her, why? If it makes you mad?"
"He's angry with Mommy."
"That's mean...is he with her now?"
"I don't know..."
Evie nodded and then climbed into bed, snuggling down and receiving a hug and kiss from her mother
"Take a nap, sweet girl. Lunch will be ready soon."
"Okay, see you later mommy"
Stevie chuckled, hearing the door open and Lindsey walking through to the kitchen
"Hi Lindsey..." she tried
"Hey," Lindsey nodded
"How is Rose?"
"She's great"
"David and Andrew are sick and I think Evie is coming down with it too. Thank you for caring," she spat
"Stevie, can you stop being a bitch for five minuets?"
"Can you stop seeing Rose?" She replied
"Why should I?"
"Because we are getting married! Because you love me! Because you should respect me! Because we have a family together!"
"What if I love her?"
"Do you...?"
"I'm going for a shower..." he pushed past her
"You do love her."
"Get off my case Stevie!"
Evie came in and pushed Lindsey, "Leave her alone!"
"Will you stop always defending her!"
"You're mean! I hate you!"
"Yeah? Well I hate you too!"
Stevie walked up to him and slapped him as hard as she could
She'd slapped him that hard it had popped his lip, blood running down his chin
"Don't you ever speak to my daughter that way again, do you hear me?" She seethed
"She's my daughter too!" He wiped his mouth
"Not anymore, you're leaving."
"No anymore? She's my child, you can't just say not anymore!"
"You can't treat us like this! You choose either us or Rose."
"If she's not my kid anymore, why don't you tell her hmm!"
"Lindsey, you need to choose. I'm not telling her anything."
"No! Go on! Tell her the truth, if I'm leaving"
"Lindsey, I am not traumatizing her. Calm down."
"I'm going for that shower!"
Stevie picked up Evie, carrying her over to the bed. "It's alright, sweet girl."
