Author's Note: I updated just a few days ago but here is your Halloween update! Happy Halloween!
Three days went by, when one night, right after I had received my soup, a man descended in front of my bedroom window.
Strange, I know.
"What the hell?" I whispered to myself, standing up from my bed. My bare feet hit the cool hardwood floor and sent a shiver up my legs.
At a closer look, the man was wearing all black. He motioned for me to come out the window. Obviously, I shook my head at him. Was this man crazy?
He slapped a piece of paper against the window: Sanduvol.
I felt my heart jump. He came? He found me?
Slowly, I nodded, setting my soup down on the bedside table. The man pressed a device to the window on all four corners. It slowly removed the glass pane, and he slid it into the room. I began to help him set the glass down when it slipped from my hands and slammed into the floor.
We both froze.
"Samantha?" Daniel's voice came from the other side of the door.
I scrambled to my soup, turning around at just the right moment to see Daniel pushing my door open. I threw the steaming hot soup on him, earning a scream of agony.
Why was that satisfying?
Without a second thought, I jumped into the arms of the stranger at my window. Immediately, I realized what a mistake that was.
Below us, sat the busy street of the city. Cars blared their horns and people sped down the sidewalks. If I was dropped, I'd be dead for sure, maybe even landing on some poor passerby.
"Get me down! Or up! Or anything!" I shouted, watching as Daniel scrambled to reach me.
Right after the words left my mouth, we dropped. It felt like a ride at an amusement park, but all at once became the most terrifying moment of my life. Black spots filled my vision as we plummeted downwards. Someone was screaming. Was it someone on the ground? Were we that close?
Thoughts of May and my mother and Conner and even Nick filled my mind. I was going to die and it was all because I trusted my girlish crush.
The line holding us tightened again, and I jerked within the arms of the stranger. When I opened my eyes, I realized it was my scream I had heard. I also saw we were about twenty feet from the ground.
At this point, we were moving downwards at a much safer pace.
The stranger began laughing, and I smacked his shoulder.
"What the hell?" I screamed.
"Relax, Samantha, you're fine."
"Conner?" I asked, ripping off his ski mask. His fluffy brown hair was revealed to me and so was his dazzling smile.
"You guessed it," he laughed.
"I thought you were dead! Oh my god! I could kiss you!" I squealed, tightening my arms around him and attempting to block my tears.
"I'm not opposed," he smirked, wrapping his arms around me tighter.
Conner's head jerked away and he groaned.
"Nick wasn't very happy with that," he chuckled, referring to his ear piece. I internally rolled my eyes at that.
Finally, we reached the ground, and just when I thought we were safe, the front doors of the apartment building burst open.
